2. What have I done since the last problem?

Nothing at all since I have more important things to do.

3. A new update, seemingly with more serous problems.
Today I installed a new update of Firefox. I have not logged out and restarted my computer. The error on my administrator account and an user account is now identical:

XULRunner

Error: Platform version '1.9.2' is not compatible with minVersjon ...

4. Disclaimer and conclusion.
I am Norwegian and I also use the Norwegian browser Opera that I personally still regard as the best (most secure) web browser on the internet.

This post is not written to degrade FireFox that I have used so long in my daily work. The problem can be my computer, but I do not have similar problems with other browser. So until the opposite is proved I have moved Google Chrome from OrangeRank. Ordinarily you must rank at OrangeRank.com before you can rank on PurpleRank.com and RedCarpetRank.com (http://www.orangerank.com/) to PurpleRank. Ordinarily you must rank at OrangeRank.com before you can rank on PurpleRank.com and RedCarpetRank.com (http://www.purplerank.com/). That implies that FireFox and Google Chrome change place in my subjective ranking.

Opera is still the only browser on: RedCarpetRank - Webs outstanding sites, resources and articles (http://redcarpetrank.com/)

The only thing I noticed (probably back a few versions), is that firefox will sometimes cease to pull in the CSS file, or it will corrupt it in cache or something to that effect. Restarting firefox fixes it.

Youtube seems to be broken every now and then when watching videos... Youtube will show the video fullscreen, halfway down the page for no reason what-so-ever, reloading the page a few times fixes it.

If my battery dies and my clock resets to 1969... Firefox will really start to act up...

Opera is a great browser (even though I don't use it, but cross compatibility tests tell me it's pretty damn good)... I was really excited when they began that initiative to support voice commands... It would be nice if that became a standard of sorts... Or if others followed thier lead...

Not sure if this is the same thing... But it's an IBM / Opera initiative to support Voice way back in 2004...

Opera Sings with IBM's Speech Technology: New version of Opera Embeds ViaVoice from IBM (http://www.opera.com/press/releases/2004/03/23/)

I mean Chrome doesn't even support Animated PNGS yet... And Firefox... I think they are still trying to catch up on a Javascript engine, like it matters (okay maybe it matters a little)...

I'd rather have standard voice support... Or maybe someone could make a way to support new event handlers for touch screens (if they haven't already)

If you do not use too many addons then it is a good idea to install Google Chrome as its speed is really fast!

I have still not thrown out FireFox, but that is the software that causes trouble on my old computer. I deleted the browser and reinstalled it, but it is still causing trouble. Examples:

Nearly 100 % certain that a new version is not backward compatible with earlier versions and causing one or another form of trouble.
The PDF link's, see that last link in my signature still does not function.
The second link in my signature does not function at all. The site hangs and I have to close the FF process and restart.
Google chrome do not function with three other browsers on my computer.
There are no problem with Opera 10.51 and IE 6.0.
See my original post for further documentation.
It may be my old computer;) I could have tested the configuration on my Laptop, but there I only use Opera 10.+ and I.E. 8.+. (The default installation).

The only problem I have ever had with Firefox is that sometimes it uses a huge amount of memory...usually about 200 mb..but I have friends who got it at almost 1gig of ram

While I cannot say what the problem might be, I can say that it is most definitely platform dependent.

At the moment, I've a machine on which IE6 has suddenly taken to running hot and cold; another on which Safari absolutely will no longer launch, even after a complete un-install/re-install; and, yet another on which Adobe 8 refuses to update, insisting that there is a (non-existent) previous update awaiting a re-boot in order for its completion.

Given sufficient time, nearly every machine falls victim to the cumulative effects of the plethora of additions, deletions and changes causing subtle conflicts between various processes.

I find redcarpetrank.com terribly hard to read, no wonder some people think red drives bulls mad!

I used to use firefox a lot till recently, but lately I have just been sticking to Safari as Firefox seemed to be throwing up a lot of bugs for me and it was taking up too much time. I still use Firefox for preview testing sites to test their layout in differing browsers but I only run it on Windows, not on my Mac while Safari I only run on my Mac not Windows, this seems to avoid some issues with both browsers.

Firefox is great because of the add-ons but sometimes they can cause problems and stop working.
