Can anybody suggest a good system for checking the historical progress of keyword results for a given website?
For before SEO, then after SEO applied.
I would like to be able to start a record for a client site, enter the keywords that they hope to be found for.
Then receive a report showing the results. In effect a report showing their before SEO results.
I would then optimise the site with the correct keywords. The system would then (over time) show the Google ranking (and other if possible) for these keywords.
I have seen a tool that might do this on sheerseo.com (I have no connection to this site).
I would welcome any suggestions on this.

Robert

You can see this data from Google results itself.
Search your keyword in Google and then click in Show Options (near the web written in upper left side exactly above the first search engine result.)
Once you click on that you'll be able to see left panel containing many options where you can see options like
Any time
Latest
Past 24 hours
Past week
Past year
Specific date range
Using above options, you'll be able to get the data what you want. You can use "Specific date range" option if you'd like to get exact data.

That shows entries that were indexed during the selected time period.

Thanks guys.
The thing that sheerseo.com offers, which I am trying to find cheaper, is you can add a record for a url, then the keywords. It will then run a report that says the sites rank for these keywords was 1, 5 ,6 etc.
You can repeat this to check on rank progress.
You can also enter a new record for other url's and keywords.
So the end product would be a one system that will let me add a number of different url's and their associated keywords. This would be very useful.
