View Full Version : AdSense relation to GoogleBot

I just noticed an interesting event in my log files. When a page that is deep in my web site is viewed, includes an AdSense presence, and AdSense displays no relevant ads (just the charity ads); the GoogleBot visits that exact page.

My assumption would be that Google is trying to prepare its AdSense engine for the next visit with relevant results in the ads. However, does this also mean that the page that was not yet indexed in Google will now show up in the Google results?

The bot is represented by Mediapartners-Google/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)"

At least this tells me one thing. That to successfully launch relevant ads through adsense, each page should be visited at least once to initiate Googles Adsense engine to find relevant ads for that page.

Anybody have any experience with what I mentioned above?

I've just added adsense to www.ultra3d.com
i got relevant ads on the open (no frames page) straight away, had to do some tinkering to get relevant ads on my frames page and could get nothing but PS ads within my login area.

I got round the problem of PS only ads by setting my frame in the open area but the ads served are now not that relevant to the content?

The google bot dosent show as having visited my site for 2 days, so im presuming its working of that last visit, which i would have thought ment i would get all similar adverts or PS adverts only, but this is not the case.

As for showing up in google, none of my site does, and i am at a loss as to why that is.

Any better solutions to getting relevant ads to members only areas would be welcome.

looks like it is serving lighting and "home and garden" ads.

I would try to remove them from a framed window. Google might also be viewing your pages as home and garden, lighting might be the most popular for that category.

I too noticed this, and mediapartners never showed up. The public consensus seems to be that Google just picks up the info it needs for the ads but doesn't pass it through to the main servers. If nothing else you will have notified Google of fresh content and new pages and you will get a "normal" index soon.
