Hi everyone,
I have submitted my website http://www.marketershandbook.com to google for indexing, and my stats show that googlebot has visited, does this mean that my website has been spidered and indexed, or was that googlebot just visiting to try and find relevant ads for adsense?

Googlebot keeps visiting my website, but when I look on google for it it doesn't appear anywhere, and I use webposition gold 2 and I still don't get anything. I submitted about 2-3 weeks ago if that helps.

If anyone has any ideas please email me.

Steve

Your site has been partially indexed - Google only has your URL listed, but not title or description. Submitting to Google is waste of time - you need links to your site to get properly indexed. Googlebot needs links to crawl to get to your site from other sites. I can't find any links to your site, so you should get some ASAP.

Google has a different bot for Adsense and the search index. Which bot is visiting you?

crawler8.googlebot.com and crawler9.googlebot.com are visiting me.

I knew that inbound links are important to increase your visibility to search engine users, but I didn't think they were necessary to actually get properly indexed.

Where can I go to get people to link to me other than the open directory project?

I'm posting articlesabout business and marketing, I could allow people to print them on their website with a link back to me?

What do you think?

Any other ideas?

One good place to get a link is to put a link to your site in your signatures on this forum.

Thanks. But shouldn't google fully index your site if you have submitted it using their add url form?

I submitted my site about 3 weeks ago now, and still no result. Shall I just wait?

Google doesn't index page because of manual submit. The fastest and the most efficient method is to provide numerous links (especially form pages with high PR) pointing to your site - it increases significantly chance of being spidered.

I have to agree with adore.

A lot of the time, when I submit my sites to other directories and link pages, and then search for my site name in google, EVERY time it seems to find my site name in the directory or link page, THEN days later it will list my own site in the search results. So Link Link Link! I've never seen where submitting manually to google has worked faster than just submitting outside links.

Hi Guys and gils,
Just thought I'd let you know that I've been indexed now :)
Well, kind of.

My main page has been indexed, but not the others :$ how strange. On google it says that you only need to submit the root page and the spider will find the rest. If thats true, then why is my home page only listed and not the others?

Each pages links to a site map which links to all the other pages, so it should be very easy to spider.

Also, if I update my website, how long will it take for google to recognise this and update my search engine rankings?

Can someone please help. Heres my URL:

Thanks everyone. If you have any suggestions for my site as well, I'll be happy to hear them, good or bad :)

Hi.

Just a thought - have you been through your sitemap page to ensure that all of the links work.

You could try using a Sim Spider tool to simulate the path a search engine should take through your site to ensure that there are no coding issues.
There is one at SearchEngineWorld that I sometimes use.

Also, if you go to Google and type in
link:www.yourdomain.com
It will show you what pages Google is aware of.

Hope this helps.

Noooooo
That only shows a sample of the backlinks. Google is always aware of a lot more and takes a lot more into account than it shows in the sample.

Hey,
My links are all working fine. I tested them all manually. However as far as I can see googlebot hasn't followed the links for some reason.

I've made it very easy for a spider to find every page but for some reason they just don't want to.

Does anyone know why? How long do you think it will take before my whole site is indexed properly. And when it is, if I update my website, how long will it take google to see the change and update my rankings?

Google says that googlebot will crawl every website no more than several times a second, its true that they don't crawl more than several times a second for my site, because they are hardly visiting at all, and when they do, they don't appear to be doing too much.

I hope someone can give me an insight, anything will do.

Thanks

Try this into Google instead.

site:www.yourdomain.com +yourdomain

Yes, it doesn't give you the exact number of pages known by Google but will give you a better idea than CBP rightly points out about the using "link:" option.

Check out your local search engines as well ... our website went up just over a month ago now and I submitted to the local New Zealand directories (only aobut 2 or 3)

For 1 of our keyphrases we are now showing up through these directories and our website index pages has actually managed to also make it onto the first page searching both New Zealand pages only and the entire web. Also the entire first page is actually links back to our site .. whilst doing the search I also discovered that we had been listed in New Zealand directories that I had not actually submitted to.

Cheers

Hi again,
Erm what was that supposed to show, because it only came up with my home page. I suppose thats good because my home page is showing, but what about the other pages?

Why haven't they been indexed yet? Can someone take a look at them and tell me why you think this is?

It has been about 5 weeks since I submitted my site to google but I expected more than the home page to be indexed.

Also, my link is in my signiture on every post, but when I checked my link popularity there are no inbound links to my website. Also I posted some of my articles on other webites and they ARE there, but still no inbound links shown.

Any ideas?

Hello there,

Why G is not fully indexing your site is because it is not interested in your site right now,(no offense) but this question is asked hundreds of times a day in different Forums. You need more inbound links to your site from other higher PR sites for Google to show any interest. If you submit your site to Google, you can wait literally months before it fully indexes your site if you don't have inbound links.
In your case it is fairly easy to view which sites are linked to you. Instead of (link www.yoursite.com)
If you have a fairly unique URL which you do, search for marketershandbook and you will get every page in the G directory that is linking to your site, including your own.(and now Webproworld.com)
It is a fact that High PR sites get spidered more often because G ranks them more important.
The reason a spider visits your site is because it is following a link from another. Hence, If you have 10 PR 0 sites linking to you that are spidered once a month, you will be lucky to get Googlebot to visit your site 10 times a month(very lucky). If you have ONE PR 5 site linking to you that gets 2 visits a day or more from Googlebot, you are sure to be completely indexed within a week.
Moral of this long and boring story. Get more incoming links from anywhere you could think of.

A great site for opimization is http://tools.summitmedia.co.uk/spider/
Good Luck

I wish I could help you Stephen, but to be frank I see no reason why Google should not be indexing all your pages.

I find 21 pages that link to your site, your server header looks good, you pages spider well including all your links links.

The only off chance suggestion that I can offer is to construct a site map and link to that from your home page.

Just a thought for the pros to answer...
On the index page, the first link is home which links back to itself. Could this possibly cause the spider to have a lesser interest in continuing to spider the other links thus far? Just throwing out ideas.

You need to just mellow out. Google will come and spider the whole thing in due course.

Hi,
Do you really think google will spider me fully eventually?

I mean after about 3 months I am starting to get a little worried. Even yahoo has pretty much fully indexed me.

Granted I have crap rankings lol, but still, at least they indexed me.

I wouldn't think that self linking would do any harm. My contact and site map pages dont self link and they aren't displayed either.
