View Full Version : Junk emails...
I get hundreds of unwanted emails everyday. I tried to unsubscribe to them but no use. How can I stop such emails flowing into my account.

There's really not much you can do. Use inbox filters, and try to get whoever runs your email server to install anti-spam software.

The only truly effective way is to notify your regular mailers/correspondents and then delete the old address, start anew.
Often that option cannot be used and then you are left with the filters etc., --there are many.
I have over 100 anti-spam links here:

Just to add,
DT - don't try to unsubscribe to them, if you do they more than likely will send more, as they now know that the address is live.

Here are some options, assuming you have your own domain name and some server control:
1) if your end POP account is the one provided by your connectivity provider, never give it out anywhere (especially not as the contact address on your domain registration). Put several aliases in front of it. If that's the spammed address, get a new one (or use a new POP account on your own server) and read on . . .
2) have an alias reserved for serious e-mail only, never use it to subscribe to anything etc. If you have to put it on a web site, use an image with a piece of javascript under it to make it clickable. I've had a spam-free address for over a year using those precautions.
3) have one or more junk aliases that you can easily discard and use them for submitting URLs, subscribing, on-line purchases etc.
4) in your server setup, reject all e-mail except those aliases that you have defined.
5) if you current address is spammed but also receives important e-mail, set up an auto responder with a message to the effect that this address is spammed please go to my site and pick up my correct address. These auto-responses will be mostly bounced back to you because of fake return addresses on the spam, so put a special return address on the auto-response that goes directly to the black hole of your server.
