I am little confused here. Google says it does not pass any value to no follow links, but I have too many no follow links and my website is still getting good rankings. So what is truth..?

Perhaps you also have followed links? Good content? Little competition? What are your keywords for which you rank well? And what is your domain? As a new member you can't post a clickable url, but you can type domainDOTcom so we can see it.

No Follow links are not totally worthless.
If they are from your related niche, it will be an added advantage.
Yahoo search engine still gives some weightage to nofollow links.

I generally try avoid posting articles and such on sites or blogs with nofollow attributes in the links but I think they do help to some degree...especially if the person who clicked on the nofollowed link liked your site/content and found it was worth linking to from his/her site...with a followed link.

In the end it could be good and in the beginning it doesn't really hurt.

No follow links are not worthless if you get a lot of targeted traffic from them.

Links are links, if they are related and relevant they are useful.

Neither Google nor yahoo pass the PR value of links that are designated as nofollow, however, the links can still be used for traffic in the form of visitors surveying the particualr website where the nofollow link is posted

When I check backlinks to my site, there are some nofollow links that get indexed. I tried different link checking tools, and have the same results, with nofollow links included.

I've heard at least one SEO expert say that even Nofollow links do still pass rank. Nofollow links don't influence your rank directly, but they help to improve your traffic and traffic is one of the reasons of your top position.

Can you substantiate your claim?

I've heard at least one SEO expert say that even Nofollow links do still pass rank.

Then why would webmasters place nofollow tag?

I think that too many people put too much emphasis on follow or no follow attribute. An incoming link to me is still very powerful and thats what I concentrate on...

Yes I would agree that an incoming link is still very useful whether or not it is follow or no follow. We need to remember that we are in this industry because we are doing what ever we can to drive traffic and visitors to our sites. The term "worthless" is a very poor term to use for any type of link because all it takes is one visitor to your site and that one visit could be a great conversion. A link is a link and all it takes is that one person viewing your site and clicking on it and there you have a possible conversion.

No follow links are believed to NOT pass link juice and PR and even that is always debatable with many but when it comes to traffic it matters not. People still click on links that have nofollow attributes and those clicks always have the potential to lead to conversions.

I think like some people before me said nofollow is only done by google so for yahoo it shouldn't matter. If you are primarily posting in nofollow blogs and are seeing a significant amount of traffic from yahoo then they are obviously worth something to u

The nofollow attribute speaks only to the passing of authority with relation to link weight.

It does not mean noindex. In this respect, how such is treated varies by Search Engine.

It will definitely carry some weightage atleast in Yahoo.
Moreover it gives traffic that's surely the best value for any link.

Nofollow links certainly do not help with SEO in Google my experience. I don't know about Yahoo.

NoFollow links are not less worthy, I have seen some nofollows links get more traffic. Nofolow links also counted but it does not pass link juice

For me, they are not "totally" worthless, maybe they are when it comes to how Google indexes it, but does it still bring in traffic? Yes it does. Even if the links are no-follow, as long as they can bring lots of traffic to your website, for me, they are better than do follow links that don't bring in any traffic.

The reason to build good backlinks is to drive your site to the top of SERPs. Why? Because if you are at the top of Google or Yahoo, your website traffic will increase.

So if you have a "no follow" link on a site that is relevant and gets a lot of traffic and that traffic sometimes goes to your site, then I'm confused why some people say it's a waste of time?

The end goal is to get traffic, so whether it's through Google, or directly from another site (non-search engine), you are still helping to achieve your goal. Yes, from a SEO perspective, it doesn't carry the same weight, but I still believe that Google looks at how many times it finds your site and gives it a "credibility" factor.

worth less, not worthless! a link is never a bad thing, but you would choose a follow over a no-follow - simple.
websites change thier follow and no follow attributes all the time, that no-follow link could easilly turn into a follow in the future

yes,the nofollow worth less then follow ones, that's for sure.but still, for example alexa indexes your nofollow links too

yes,the nofollow worth less then follow ones, that's for sure.
The sole purpose of a link is to provide quick and easy access to a resource.

The presence or absence of the nofollow attribute has absolutely no effect on either the ability of the link to perform that function, or the probability of the user's clicking on it.

Said attribute affects the value of a link only for those obsessed with Google PageRank.
