First, let me preface by saying I created & published my site with a web design software program before I ever learned a thing about HTML, server stats, etc. Still don't know much but I'm working on it! A year into this little venture, which began as a showcase for our crafts, I'm struggling to play catch-up with the most basic technicalities like server stat analysis, etc. as the site continues to grow!

I noticed a strange referrer about 3 months ago that looked like this XXXX:+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++ and goes nowhere,
the next month it was there twice with more + signs added, the next there were 3 and so on, each showing 1 hit per. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Also, since April 1, there are 20 plus "1 hits" from my own graphics that have never been there before, most which are not linked to anything from my end. Is this what is called a hyperlink?

I'd appreciate any help you could give.
Thanks!
Donna

if possible, can you 'screenshot' your stats?

Thank you for replying! I don't know, I'm not sure what screenshot means. The server breaks them down by month - day - hour then hits, visits, bandwidth usage, entry & exit URLs, search string, referrer etc. for each. Does that tell you anything?

screenshot basically means to capture your window screen.

To do it, all you have to do is find 'Print Screen SysRq' key on your keyboard, then hit it once, it will then capture or copy or ... your window screen. What you do next is either open up your graphic editor or Microsoft word and paste the image there.

If you have never done it before, it's actually a neat tool to use especially when you want someone else to look at what you are looking at. For instance, I have never heard of the problem you described before and I was hoping to see your stats and i have no way of seeing it and the only way to see it is via screenshot of your stats unless your site stats can be publicly viewed.

Hope i made it clear. Someone might've come across this problem and hope that they help.

I've seen this referer in my log file a few times as well. Have no idea what it is.
