On occasions in the past i was able to view myself on cam and friends, with my sign in name, which i assumed was my ''username''. Recently, i tried to share video cam. I saw myself as usual, but the other party couldn't see me...kept asking me for my username. I gave my sign in name and that didn't work, which had me puzzled. I really don't recall ever being asked when I had setup yahoo mess. them asking for a username...only a sign in name. So that is what i have been using. Does anyone know if and where one can find the area where one does create a username? I went to account setup and saw nothing there that is remotely asking for a username.

Interesting situation. Just to clarify, are you seeing the username prompt or is the remote user? As far as I can remember (not having viewed webcams over YIM lately), Yahoo will send the cam owner a prompt whether they want to allow the user to view the camera, but the viewer should not get any extra prompts.

My suspicion is that this prompt may be getting generated by your webcam software, rather than by Yahoo messenger. Unlikely, but possible. Would you be able to get a screenshot of the username prompt, or at the very least the exact wording of the entire dialog box?
