Old position back?

hi,
to get your old position back at google, is that mainly a thing of getting more backlinks to your website? We had a rank 4 a certain keyword at google.com and the same keywords rank 1+2 at google.com.au But now we don't even appear at google.com (we still do at the same position at google.com.au)

if anybody knows what to do (only more backwardslinks? or are there more factors?)

IMO I dont think anyone knows with any certanty what to do for the best........YET.

You only have to look at the results from google searches to see something is not quite right in the google camp.

A cautionary note:

Before you re-write your site - hang-on for a couple of days.

Sites regularly drop like this - only to re-appear a couple of days later.

The "Google Dance" is more of a shuffle these days.

We used to get top positions with Google, but now you have to look through 10 pages of results to find our link. I'm frustrated by it, but I guess there's nothing I do.

Our page rank also went down from 5 to 4 on every page.

hey for my site if you type in a keyword festival rumours 2004 or something along those lines google comes up with internet sales sites... and sites which havent been updated since 2002 etc. its terrible at the moment.
