So apparently Google has gotten tired of telling webmasters not to worry about PageRank and has decided to drop it from Webmaster Tools. Barry Schwartz of searchengineland.com believes it was dropped when they released Webmaster Tools Labs features earlier this week.

I think Google should remove the concept of PageRank, then the webmasters will give importance to CONTENT rather than LINKS.

I sort of agree but there are times when seeing page rank comes in helpful.

For instance my brother has a PR3 website, he's a musician so getting a link from his site could be ok for me for instance, even though his content isn't totally related to mine, he could throw in a simple paragraph like "if your coming to one of my shows and your single, you can maybe join one of the free dating sites I know and see if you can find a date"....

my point is, I know he has a PR3 site thanks to the PR tool in the google toolbar...without that tool i would never have been able to ask the gibber for a link. I call him a gibber cause he's trying to get me to purchase the link from him through some sort of favour - bad brother!!

But ya again, I hear ya but I do like knowing the PR sometimes...even though most and I do mean MOST of the time I never really care about it. A good link to me is any link from a site (not directory) that can surround my link and anchor text in a nice and descriptive paragraph about the services.
