The alterego blog (http://alterego.mindsay.com/) brought to light an old picture of Sergey Brin posing in a dress and wig.

Adsense? Are you kidding me? Methinks the guy who unearthed this should've kept his cards close to the chest and gone after some ransom. Or, failing that, insider knowledge on the Google algorithm.
Still, that's a great, great picture. If you surf around his archived site a little, you can jump on over to his mother's page from that era. She's standing with a wax dummy of VI Lenin with the legend, 'me and my best friend'.
Definitely no shortage of good humor in *that* clan.

As the woman I am and as a webmistress -sweating my tshirt under the commandments of this SE´s King- I´d rather keep him in mind this way (the landscape is not a minor detail):

You're useless and probably assuring a good start for Google IPO. A comfortable job at Google for you all should make this forum obsolete. How can you say that that picture is one of the greatest discoveries on the worldwide web? This means you have not idea about what browsing means and that a couple of Kentucky web pages should make you this they are the whole Internet. Is this forum only centered on Google? It's becoming quite useless. Google is a different company and probably does not care about this here circus. At least, that's my opinion.

oh, lighten up sovidiu.

Is this forum only centered on Google?
I can't speak for this forum, but 78% of my Search Engine referrals come from Google--that kinda focuses my attention.
Google is a different company and probably does not care about this here circus. At least, that's my opinion.
and your point is?

You know...this forum is about a lot of people looking at the past of one brilliant individual...and that his past shows that he is a pretty ordinary guy, even making fun of himself. I laugh WITH the pic not BECAUSE of it. And I thanked that at last it all ends up in the same: WE ARE HUMAN. No deuxmachina, algorithms, search engines gods with rules, but humans trying to live life with a little bit of humor.
Surely Sergey would laugh WITH us and OUR circus.
At least, that's my opinion.

Andilinks, I was not asking about prosodic elements. I wanted people to explain as to why a person's image is a major Internet discovery, especially since he works for a private company. Private, ok? Not related to the US government or any other State-related departments. Mentioning something about a corporation or its employers is equal to free negative/positive advertising.
Even though 78% of your Search Engine referrals come from Google, we still categorize it as a "search engine" and not "the" search engine. It makes other similar companies look bad and leaves few space for inovations in this domain. Monopoly is not good - see the Microsoft case. And it is a forum, not a personal web page, so your referral statistics are not pertinent. And my point is that you are not open to any other new ideas, but merely asimilating Google's services. Just because it has an interactive look does not mean we should call its creators "gods" and start to gossip about them.
And then G[dot]com says that "WE ARE HUMAN". I do not recall asking a human to draw a picture of google.com or redirect his drawings towards a new web site. DMOZ is human. Google is not. Why? Because it uses complex algorythms and it only shows you the top of the trendy-iceberg. What is complex? That one thing you try to discover and use in order to get a higher PageRank. Too bad "humans" cannot go deep enough to crack the PR system. Or maybe they can :)

Hi
April the 1st, I went to gmail.com and click on a link that shows a page with a picture of couple (man and woman holding each other)that can be one of the founder of Google. I tried to find on the history of my computer the link of this page but don't find simply because I ve recently remove all histories. So does someone have this picture or link ? Thank you.

It wasn't the founder of Google - it was just a birthday message to a Google staffer called April.

I agree - very pretty in a frock - in fact i never realised he was so good looking.
As to 'Even though 78% of your Search Engine referrals come from Google, we still categorize it as a "search engine" and not "the" search engine. It makes other similar companies look bad and leaves few space for inovations in this domain. Monopoly is not good BLAH BLAH BLAH' yeah, lightn up and join us in the real world.
Google destroyed those that would be monopolies yes, and became one itself - thank the gods. I mean if I search for widgets why would I want to get 10 pages of bikini waxing, ebook my way to financial heaven, or all the other crap the poor competition tried to spew on me. I've watched the so called competition come and go - and good riddance. I dont mind using a monoploy like Google that has set the standard and does not charge a cent to do it. More importantly it has shown a great respect for users, realising they were not as easily herded as sheep. Baaa. And how strange that this monoploy as u call it has allowed small businesses (once were garage dwellers) to compete, grow and even better larger companies all because Google, with it's evil algorythms, and the rudeness to actually go and look at my site (not a common practise back then) thought my site more valuable and richer an experience for it's users? Hee hee hee. LONG LIVE GOOGLE! I kiss Sergoogle's painted toenails.

What a great piece of google history. I loved the old Google search page, which states that they have now moved to Google.com.
