I have been planning to develop an application for Android platform. i can only use simulator.
The ideas i have are

1. Audio and Video player with editing support for both audio and video . (We will not be laying our hands on the android phone itself. We will be using the emulator only as android phones are not available in the market here in India)

2. Instant messenger with email client

3. Voice recognizer with ability to recognize voice commands and respond accordingly

4. Create a compressed file format and create a video player which plays only that format and that too on Android platform.

5. Security software that analyses the IMEI number of mobile phone and sends a security alert if the phone sim is changed.

I am new to Java environment and has been working on turbo CPP for a while now... So I need to know if these ideas will work out or not.

I would join or talk to StartupHB (http://startuphb.com/)

They have a lot of IPhone developers, and I'm sure they have a few android folks or may know some.

They get together to create IPhone apps....not sure if they do android yet

I think you are reaching the wrong forum here. Maybe Mobile developers and Mobile Monday groups are better solutions for you.
