Google updated the PageRank and backlinks a while ago. The changes are showing up (off and one right now) on www.google.com.
Janeth, congrats on getting your PR6 back!
Yes it is happening - seeing it on 216.239.57.98

I just checked my Back links via the Google toolbar and my link number had dropped. Not unusual in itself, they often do before a PR update. However, right at the top was this URL: http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=15504 What is unusual is the page only has a PR of 1. Never seen this before, normally it's PR4 or higher.

Backlinks of my site are also increased. But there was something strange. I checked & found that PR have jumped to 5. But after some time, it went down to 3 (it had originally PR 3). did anyone else notice similar thing?

Thats normal during an update in PR - it takes a while for all data centers to be updated - you only get the new PR/backlinks if Google retrieves the info from a data center with the updated PR.

But initially it had 14 Backlinks and PR 3. Now it shows 41 Backlinks and still PR 3.

I'm seeing a change in backlinks too. The most surprising was a couple from this board LOL

My PR jumped from 4 to 5, but back to 4 again today. You say this is normal...my question, does it eventually go to 5 once all the datacenters are updated? Thanks.

Your new PageRank will stabilize after all the data centers have been updated.

woohoo - WPN went to a pr7! So did www.Jayde.com, our directory... Though Jayde.com, without the www. didn't.
Is that a datacenter thing or what?

http://www.jayde.com and http://jayde.com are considered separate pages by Google. Even though they're actually the same page they'll have different PageRanks depending on the inbound links to each of them.
To maximize your PageRank, try to get as many inbound links to one or the other as you can (preferably the www version)...

Wow, one of my sites has gone from PR0 to PR6! Howzat! I just noticed though that the Google Directory hasn't updated it's listing of the site's PR - it still shows it as PR0. I'd always assumed that Google updated this on the fly, but clearly not - any idea when it happens?
Dani
any idea when it happens?
The PR next to the entry in the Google Directory is only updated when the Directory is updated.

Hmmm my pagerank went from 5 to 4 (I also lost a lot of positions at different search engines with different keywords, mainly at google!)
Is this only because of backlinks?
(so does this need i need more backlinks or
are there also other factors that play a role?)

It looks like google is updating page ranks again (Friday, 16).
My page rank 4 went to 2 and Google homepage has zero.
What's going on ?

I don't think its an update. At this stage my best guess is one of the data centers have reverted back to an old index - so it appears that PR is coming and going between the old the new from the update a week or so ago - depedns if you are getting data from that center.
