Hi all,

My client, with two separate websites (a custom logo and stationery designing website and a custom web design site), wants me to put up an excellent affiliate program for his sites. My questions to you are:

- What have been your experiences with affiliate programs?

- Where can I find some good affiliates (specifically for sites in question, personal experience please)?

- What percentage is the industry norm for affiliates?

- Is this statement correct “Affiliate programs are 100% risk free coz if they don’t sell, we wont pay a dime”?

- What are some of the pitfalls of affiliate programs?

- Any other insight in affiliate programs as well as in advertising for Logo and web designing websites.

Thanks in advance.
Amir

Hi Amir,

There really is not a flat industry norm for commissions as it depends greatly on the product and available margins.

Is this statement correct “Affiliate programs are 100% risk free coz if they don’t sell, we wont pay a dime”?

I don't agree with that statement at all. While it's true you don't pay commission unless someone makes a sale it is not risk free. It takes money, time and effort to develop a strong program. And it takes about 3-6 months of doing the right things before significant sales will develop typically.
Not trying to be negative just realistic.

Many people launch an affiliate program thinking - hey, free traffic and branding and it's only CPA. They fail. It takes ALOT of time and money to develop a PARTNER program and unless you think of it that way I think you could be sadly disappointed in the results.

Check out affiliatemanager.net for some great info and resources about starting and program and best of luck!

That bears repeating. Over and over again.

Just as i suspected, making money can never be easy. What about the programs by CJ.com . if ill participate in them, will they be doing all the hard work for me???

In case your answer is no, could u people please elaborate on your earlier statement. (Many people launch an affiliate program thinking - hey, free traffic and branding and it's only CPA. They fail.)

What do i have to keep in mind??

Thanks
