Background: http://www.webproworld.com/discussion-forum/84896-apache-server-question-configuration-php-pear-question.html#post452031 (post #19).

I am looking for a cheap (compared to Norwegian prices) reliable hoster for my new site socioalnorway.com

Requirements:

File manager, php.ini (access) and cPanel or better solutions.
Fast upgrade to new versions of PHP, pear and PDO.
The More XML technology processors the better. Examples:
- PHP - XML_XSLT2Processor | Get PHP - XML_XSLT2Processor at SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xslt2processor/)
- EXSLT (http://www.exslt.org/)
+++

Recommendations and experience are highly appreciated.

I can't seem to send you a private message for some reason, send me one and I will reply with my recommendation.

I have blocked all PM's even from moderators and site admins.

Webmaster: Great PM option if that functions.

You can send me an epost with your WPW nick in the subject field.

Kjell: Curious, what prompted the blocking of all PM's?

Shall I be earnest (with all the risk that imply)?

Most important. The following remark from a moderator:

"Latest Infractions Received: Insulted Other Member(s)" I should like to be able to block that functionality too.

in the "Can IBL's really hurt your site" thread.

That is related to my reputation as a professional.
My opinion of that. It started in another thread where I supported and agreed with another member. Yes, this is boring, and like other members I don't have a fun with constantly repeating this subject in a form or another.
Minor problem. Getting spam through the PM system.
Time = money for me too;)

Hi Kgun

Before coming up with, or suggesting any possible solutions, I am curious as to what you are paying (ballpark figure) for hosting in Norway for a similar service.

Unfortunately as I am on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand many of the hosting companies I work with are local, and distance may be a factor, especially when reliant on undersea cables, but there are increasingly better deals coming out of the UK as well as the US.

Kgun, there's an ad at the top of this page for the host company I use. They are very good and you can customise all sorts of things in the cpanel. The new servers allow you to customise php.ini and what not and their support service is good.

Have a look - Host Gator...
