Not sure where to post this but hoping for some good advice.
On my site I have a photo of the day, each week I move these to a voting page for photo of the week etc..
Basically each week at midnight on Saturday I upload 7 new photos...
This week I have uploaded many times overwriting and even then deleting and re uploading the photos....only to find the previous weeks still there!
I am using the same FTP upload as the past three years...
Sometimes I need to refresh several times to get the new photos to appear...
I am generally using Firefox to browse but have now also tried refreshing in Explorer to no avail....
All the other photos I uploaded at the same time are appearing OK
This makes it difficult to maintain the website if I cant see the changes I have uploaded...I try to keep my site dynamic and make changes everyday...
Any suggestions I would be grateful....
FYI I am using a wireless connection for uploading and browsing.
I have also tried adding ?action=purge to the end of the URL all to no avail!
I have checked many times to make sure I am not uploading the same 7 photos!
Also deleted all the thumbs.db files

Have you tried clearing the cache on the browser?
In Firefox you have to select the 'Always clear my private data when I close Firefox' option on the Privacy tab in Tools > Options. Then click on the settings button and select what data must be cleared.
In Internet Explorer you need to delete the Temporary Internet files on the General tab in Tools > Internet Options. You can also click on the Settings button and select Check for newer versions of stored pages: Every visit to the page option, but I prefer deducing the Amount of disk space to use to as low as possible.

Thanks,
Ive already tried all that just did it again to check...still displaying the old pics - really odd Ive never come across this before using GoDaddy with a Linux server usually everything updates in seconds pics can take a little while but a couple of standard refreshes usually works.. I keep checking that I havent uploaded the same pics...it all works ok on my computer with the new pics so the files have to be correct as its where Im uploading from...Im using CORE ftp to upload files. Its now been 12 hours since I uploaded with no change whatever I do...
OK Thanks I just solved the problem it was the Firefox cachewhen I changed all the settings I didn't restart my computer just closed and reopened Firefox..
I just used the short cut control/ F5 (Im sure I tried this before to no avail) and it reloaded with the new pics....seems that Firefox was being more tenacious with its cache than usual.

You probably have a proxy cache on your ISP. To improve speed and efficency some ISPs will store pages of frequently accessed websites. This is generally not a problem as they will check to see whether your site has updated recently. But sometimes the system stops updating properly. When this happens you will see stale pages even though everyone else accessing your site sees the new data, images, etc.
Have someone on another ISP check your site for new data. If you can log on to the web server you can often see the live page from there.

I think that you have hit the nail on the head as the particular page I had the problem with I access regularly to see how the voting is going! I was about to go outside and check from another ISP when it eventually decided to refresh with the new pics...its just that this took a lot longer than in the past...something to bear in mind for the future.
Thanks

In situations like this, I often find it useful to check out my site with a web proxy to find out how the rest of the world is seeing my site.

change the name of the picture each time you upload or add a random number to it
src="myimage.jpg?{somerandomnumber}"
