Ignore density percentages.

Write naturally. As if you were having a conversation with someone, explaining something to them, or providing them with information verbally.

Use your keywords and phrases naturally.

Here's blog post I wrote some time ago about it and it links back to another thread here...

As Dave says, there is no ideal density.. Here is the best way to do it..

Write your content..
Read it out loud..
If it sounds stupid, rewrite it..

Rinse, repeat..

Density can be fatal for your site, write naturally and Big G will love it.

There is nothing called density of keywords as a defined percentage.
For better search engine results, write natural and good content on the the topic related to your keywords.

If you want to write SEO friendly content, below are few tips

1. Content should be unique and naturally written

2. Topic of the content should be based on the theme you want to target for ranking

3. Try to focus on the theme and try to use the exact phrases you want to target for ranking, be it one word, two word or three word. But make sure not to repeat them very often and let it sound real.

Hope you enjoy the writing now

Thanks

My opinion is closer to Erica's than Cranky Dave's. We've done quite a bit of testing with keyword density and watched the SERPs. I don't think there's a set rule to follow, though we tend to not exceed 4%.

For phrases that are more competitive, you probably need to get it on the page more than once. Probably into the title as well.

Phrases that are less competitive may only need to be on the page once for it to show up in the SERPs.

I pick one phrase per page and make that my primary focus. I will then pick a couple more phrases (that are less competitive) as my secondary focus. Then I might sprinkle in a handful of similar phrases that are less competitive.

Back to Dave's point, what I'll say is this. If you let your keyword / onsite optimizing affect the quality of the copy, and the quality of the user's experience, you've done a poor job. You need to think of the experience of the visitor that actually makes it to your site.

Keyword density as a ranking factor was disproven years ago, so why would anyone even bother with it.

I think that we should write content for our site users and without worrying about keyword density.

Write content that will benefit the users and will give the required information. Your site will rank good for the keywords for which it should rank good.
