Hi

I wondered if anyone had any idea what might be happening to our site.

Our site, www.energylinx.co.uk, which has a PR for most pages of average 6 is regularly updated, but nothing major other than content and adding the odd few pages.

We are spidered every day but we have started to notice recently that google appears to be now no longer producing a description for initially about six pages on our site, this has now grown to about nine pages.

An example page is www.energylinx.co.uk/electricitycomparison.html

For months this has been held no.1 position on page 1 of google for the search term "electricity price comparison".

This page has not changed in any way, but is now no longer found.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

One thing that will be affecting your positions is that at least 3 other companies in the field are actively using SEO.

The lack of a description in Google listings is indicative of Google knowing about a link to the page but not spidering the page yet.

There are a few things you might do to get your pages spidered better.

First your server is not returning a last modified date, which googlebot likes to see in order to determine if the page needs to be spidered.

Secondly you might want to look at where your links to the pages in question are coming from. I do not see a link to the electricity comparasion page from your home page and attempts to spider your site map are sometimes getting a 500 internal error response. Possibly the link to these pages is further from the home page than the spider is willing to travel when indexing your site.
