Hi all

I have a client that would like to setup some satellite domains to his main one. He will have unique content on each of these domains and the general template will have links pointing back to the main site. I know this has been posted here before but I wanted to get a more recent opinion to this tactic in creating more traffic and increasing page rank.

What are you thoughts on this issue?

If the content is unique, you may do better looking for another webmaster to 'host' your satellite page. This can have the advantage of your content being shown on an existing established site.

You merely need to find a webmaster that will place full page
www.mysite.com/yoursite/ link - as long as there are internal links pointing to the new page it will probably be more effective.

A lot depends on the subject matter, (topic) finding a price to compete with a new domain/hosting etc.

You can just make quick mini-websites on networks like squidoo.com and hubpages.com. I would be careful of creating an entire site with its only purpose being to link to the main website. If you create an interlinked network of sites, you could get the whole network penalized.

First off what is a satellite site?

2nd, I agree you should not create sites solely for the purpose of creating links to your main site.

I think I just realized a satellite would orbit around the main site, yes?
