Could drive first time I tried, at 14, manual. On an empty highway - Dad said, you want to drive son?, and about ten minutes later he said, you want to slow down, son?
Yet....., many ex girlfriends had lots of criticism. I took a poll of backseat drivers, and 9 out of 10 said the driver cannot drive.

STILL cannot drive a manual. I lived in a jurisdiction for two years (CT) where the license age was 16 and we moved back to NJ where the age was 17. We wound up moving back after my 16th birthday and I tried to convince my dad that NJ would 'ratify' the CT license, but he wouldn't let me get it.
Talk about a tease!

LOL. My mom only ever 'drove' a manual but she was very bad, always stalling, not knowing when to shift, what gear. She knew HOW to shift, but not when.
It took us about 35 years to get her to try an automatic because she didn't know how to drive one!
She is in the wrong gear less often now, but braking, lane changes, parking, sigh ;)

I have driven a car about 5-6 times in my life. At least 3 of those times the car came back damaged.
No... I cannot, nor do I want to drive.

Of course I do, in states you need to have/drive one, otherwise you are not going to make anywhere on time

I can, but as a massive chunk of the back of my right eye fell off and floats round in my eye, I choose not to. :)

Yes, I have a car and love driving.
I only drive a manual.
Best time ever was driving a Volkswagen Transporter Van (huge thing) from Waterford to Dublin. Good road trip moving a piano.

Yes, since June 1993.
Automatic only, since a condition causes weakness in my right arm.
Perhaps, if I drove a non-US car...?
I learned in a station wagon, so size doesn't usually bother me. I have helped a friend move cross-country in a Uhaul truck, pulling a car trailer.
I can even parallel park! :-)
I love to drive and I am all for roadtrips. I ride my bike a lot too.

It is weird, I know, but I never did learn to. Now that I am married and we have a driver for everything, I doubt I ever will.

Where I live, it is a little bit out of the norm for people to NOT get licenses (everyone drives). However, the Jersey suburbs were built out of people moving out from NYC where it is VERY common for people to never drive a car (owning a car in Manhattan is an outright nuisance). This was the case for both my mother and my aunt who didn't get licenses until a couple of years after moving out to NJ.
One GREAT reason to get your licenses: IT'S FUN!
