Has anyone else tried getting rid of broadband and moving on to mobile broadband instead.... I've recently moved house, and decided this would be better for combined internet on desktop and laptop.
After some research, I went with Vodaphone, which costs about £50 from their website. They send out a dongle which includes a Gb of data, with each additional Gigabyte costing £15, paid in advance. Its supposed to be the fastest in the UK.
It is lightening quick... a typical youtube video downloads twice the speed as it can play.
The flip side is the issue of compatability.... it seems to crash and sometimes hang after an hour or so of continuous use. i cant be sure if this is due to Vodaphone, Vista, or just inevitable as the bugs are worked out of the system.
Also it comes bundled with the "lite" version of the software, which automatically compresses (as in ruins) images to reduce bandwidth before they are downloaded. To fix this you have to download the full software from vodaphone, uninstall the lite version, install the full software, then switch off image compression.
i'm still figuring it out but I'll let you know how it goes...
