Yo!

Anybody can make a professional site today, Anyone!

Cut n Paste - and there you go - Done!

And whenever you visit a site that got this
wonderful template, great logos, good looking layout
and just to find out that it's really an 14 year or
some young chap who thinks he knows it all.

To me these sites remind me of an executive with a
great looking tie and that's it. No wisdom, no
experience, no negotiating skills, Just Plain lazy!

These websites make me wonder more than a unique
site made from scratch with a few graphics here and
there.

They have a phone number, they have creditbility,
they are involved and they got spunk. I like these.

I've been burnt more times from wowwee sites than
any mini site on the internet. Maybe that's just me,
but it's a fact in my book.

Another peeve I have is sending me away from your
site and when I try to get back it has disappeared
or I can't find my way back to the page because it
has expired! Where did that page go? (Grrrr)

And all those flashy banners that distract my
attention when I'm trying to read your messages or
tiny, tiny, tiny little text on bright red
background pages (where's my sunglasses... shessh)

Okay, now I feel better, Thanks Garret!~

I have a business site, but increasingly find it harder and harder to get a top ranking with the one-trick-pony sites (single product) which all of a sudden are being marketed by the same person under 20-30 (or more) different site names. E.g., x signs, y signs, z signs, aa signs, etc.

Grrr.
What is the point (other than increasing one person's business presence) in creating so many clone sites? other than the fact that I would have done it a lot better than they did ; )

Obviously, the purpose is to "shotgun" the internet. Throw enough garbage on the wall and something's bound to stick.

Welcome to the world of spam. These are spam websites. Fortunately, search engines are getting better at detecting duplicate content. You would think spam e-mail would die out, but it doesn't.

The reason for both types of spam is that someone was convinced that this is a way to make money. As a webmaster I get a rash of e-mail from sites requesting link exchanges. They come in waves. First it's contact lens sites. Then it's viagra sites. Then it's...well you get the idea. You'll see it in spam e-mail, too. All will have exactly the same subject line. As of the last week it's been "hi". You'll remeber during the invasion of Iraq it was the deck of cards.

Someone is selling these people a load of crap. Does anybody ever buy any of this stuff? Maybe a few, but I think they go under as quickly as they start. That's why you see a new product or serveice almost weekly. My favorite spam is the one telling me how to stop spam.

Back to the topic, cloned websites, they are really nothing more than an annoyance. They will allow a truly good website shine. You have to go through a lot of rocks to find diamonds.
