Our company sells traditional Mediterranean hookah pipes. I was going for an exotic Mediterranean feel. The custom lettering is representative of smoke. An abstract hookah pipe is integrated into the lettering. You comments are apreciated.

I would say it looks more 70's hippy style than Mediterranean. When I think hookah, I think Morrocan. You are heading down the right path with the colours though.

I am so honored to get the feedback, the logo does have somewhat of a psychedelic feel. I see where you are coming from. Thank you sooo much for my first feedback on this great forum!!!

Seems like you just want me to check out your website. You did not explain why the logo does not communicate if that's what you think. Communicate...Communicate...Communicate is not sufficient criticism for me.

If it seems like pulling teeth to get a comprehensive critique of your logo, it may be because it's really quite good. It does COMMUNICATE! The waviness of the alpha characters denotes the rise of smoke. The placement of the hookah works perfectly. It's placement doesn't in anyway make the word less readable.
The only negative criticism I have is that there just might be too much empty space within the oval. Doing the "tighten-up," if only even just slightly, might improve the overall balance of the graphical design elements.
You're most likely quite certain that your logo's a winner, so your comment to Bill Haig --
Seems like you just want me to check out your website. -- rings a bit hypocritical to me. Posting a really good bug for review is a sure invitation for us to speculate that you've very likely done the same thing that you accuse Bill Haig of having done. There are two easily detectable types of posters on this forum: those that know they're good and want to crow, and those that have sincerely compared themselves with their competition and found their site to be lacking. IMO, You might be seen by some to fall within the former category.

I thank you deerly for the criticism. You took some time in explaining yourself, unlike somebody else on this forum. I have never received any professional opinions on my work for TheHookah.com and I thought that this would be a good place to get it. I have been reading the Web Pro Newsletter for some time now and I finally decided to come hear and participate. I am not here trying to sell a product or a service, I just want an honest opinion from a new and fresh eye.
The comment from Bill Haig really pissed me off because it did not make sense whatsoever, it just seemed like he was trying to sell his service in a convenient manner.
If I were to hire a professional for any kind of job, I much rather go to somebody who has given me an honest opinion and who has put some thought into it. I will not give my money to somebody who pushes his product or service onto me without any explanation just because he or she said so.
Many posters on here have services to offer. As many of you already do; I think that giving your honest opinion by not trying to push your services onto the readers will ultimately attract more customers to you and your services.
I do not have a design service to offer. I am simply here because I truly think that this is a great forum. I will be here giving my brutal and honest criticisms for those who ask for it. Thank you everybody for your time!

It looks great to me, could maybe use a little of the tightening up that was mentioned. The rest is perfect!
Just be careful, 'ol Tommy Chong is doing 6 months for his online Bong Biz!

Thank you WHL. We have not been bothered by authorities since these pipes are tradionally used to smoke a special type of molassed tobacco which we sell on our site as well. We encourage the use of this tobacco and highly discourage any other substances to be used as a substitute.
