More specifically, the spry tabbed content widget in Dreamweaver. I've used this widget many times but never for essential data on a page.

However, I'm thinking about a redesign that would use the tabbed widget on the home page for some important content and wondering if anyone knew the ramifications of doing so?

I can see all the text of the tabbed contents using lynx viewer but I'm still worried that there might be penalties because the tabs hide some content until the user selects it. I would hate to see my home page vanish because of using the tabbed widget...

Any thoughts?

I have been using it on a site for several months. Along with other Spry Widgets.

I have not seen any SEO negatives so far.

Search Engines will not penalize you for Web 2.0 widgets like the Tabbed Panels, if done correctly. Many sites are now using widgets to control data display.

So far so good. Never heard any bad thing about it.
