Move Word Press .org Blog to New Host

Does anyone know how to move a word press.org blog that was created for me free when I first put up my domain? I was given this for free with FRH hosting. I decided to move my site over to Go Daddy and would not have if I had known my blog of 17 months would not be available. I am not an expert at programming but know enough to be dangerous??

Assuming you have full access to the existing hosting then backup the database and download all the files. Next upload the files to GoDaddy via FTP and restore the database there.

You will have to change the database settings in wp-config.php to match the database information on your new host.

Finally point the domain name to the new host.

Database backups can normally be made via the hosting control panel as generally something like phpMyAdmin is available.

If you don't have access to your files and databases on the old host then you will need to ask the old host to give you a copy of the database + files.

Some hosts will copy the old site over for you if you provide them with full access to the old account, I don't know if this is the case with GoDaddy but you could ask.
