Just a heads up, but yesterday I went to Gandi.net to purchase another domain name. Once I got there, I went to one of my existing domain names, onemorebite-weightloss.com to check the server details, then thinking I better double-check those were the proper details, I left Gandi.net and went to another site.
Later I decided to use a different registrar so didn't return to Gandi.net.
Then I noticed I couldn't get to my website, http://www.onemorebite-weightloss.com but I could get to it using the simplier name (separate DNS) of http://www.onemorebite.com
I figured I'd done something to the server config so starting checking, tried to recall any tinkering I might have done and sent a message to the support at my hosting company.
After I checked everything it was apparent there was nothing wrong with my server's config, so it had to be a DNS problem. I returned to Gandi.net and that's when I saw that my DNS had been changed to Gandi.net's default servers. I never made a change, I never hit a submit button at their site, etc. I could not possibly have caused this problem, yet there it was.
I immediately sent a hasty e-mail to Gandi.net advising them of a serious problem with their site, and I changed my DNS back to what it should have been. Now, I'm waiting the full 48 hours for the correct DNS to propogate and meanwhile I get a reply from Gandi.net verifying a change was made. No, "Thanks for alerting us to a problem," or, "We're very sorry you had a problem and we'll do what we can to make sure it doesn't happen again."
All Gandi.net did was say, "Yes, a change was made." done. So I sent a reply advising it occurred accidentially and I thought it was a serious problem, that I didn't click anything, I didn't type anything, I didn't make any change, yet a change occurred, I never hit a submit button, blah blah. I was a wee bit upset as you can imagine, and their reply? "Someone must have your password! Please change it immediately." Oh, brother. Some people are truly clueless.
Obviously no one else had my password. I was there. I was on the page. I left the page and a change occurred. Voila. That seems like a bug to me, that needs to be squashed.
Anyway, just wanted to let anyone who uses Gandi.net to know to be very cautious if you check your data. I'm moving my sites from there. If anyone knows of a good registrar service to use with under $10 renewal rates, I'd appreciate the info.
