Always, start at home. Look in the Cleveland area for businesses that are looking for resellers. The relationship that you are looking for should not have a monthly fee attached to it! It should be straight up, they have a product, they invoice you when you buy it.
You don'tt have to start there, but there are certain advantages; you can go there, you can meet people if required, you will be within the one-day UPS zone so you can get things quickly.

If you have working experience as IT professional and with knowledge is web design, web development, internet marketing and call center, you can work as home based web designer or you can try a part time freelance IT professional.

Well, its a little on the cautious side. I'm not saying to pledge the house or anything, just get accustomed to the idea of selling things and more and more and more.....

I have a few questions for you.
1. Do you want to sell anything?
Yes - What do you have a interested in? Find a drop shipper or buy a drop shippers list.
No - Ad-sense, Affiliates, Providing Services maybe best.
2. Is this for you or for your wife/hubby?
Wife/hubby - Make sure he/she has the time, motivation and wants to do it.
You - Make sure you have the time and motivation
3. How much time do you plain on spending on this?
none - Most people believe "put up a site and make money" As you may know this is not the case.
Depends on other answers. but a range is 2-10+ hours a day.
4. How much money do you wish to outlay to start?
Again depends on other answers can range from 0 - 1500+. Things people do not think of but may need
Gateway, Hosting, Shopping Cart, Merchant Account, Fax machine, New Phone Line, 800 Number. Just to name a few
5. How long do you think it will take before you start making money?
Can take from a month to 6 months or more before a profit is made.
these are just things to think about.
It is not for everyone but if you still want to do it then go for it.

to start an online business, basically you need to ask yourself
what are you good at? developing software?, developing website,
IT security, support or ?
what the market wants -
and between what the market wants and what are you good at,
do you see something that can turn into a product.
If so, build a search engine friendly and user friendly website
about it ... then drive massive traffic on it.
hopes that help

Hello r5416,
Its a great advantage that you have more than 15years of experience in the IT industry. You have plenty of options to choose from in order to start an online business. Being an affiliate for instance. I'll tell you what is it and how it works. Affiliate program is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. If you want to sell your products or services using the internet, there are available resources you can use and become a successful affiliate. live247support for example. Its a live chat support company that offers online customer service support so you can assure that your customer's concerns are directed to people who have enough knowledge about your business and they are properly addressed. I'll give you more idea about affiliate marketing and on how to make it work for you in this blog: affiliatebusinessandstrategies.wordpress.com 2009/10/18/make-affiliate-marketing-work-for-you/
I will be happy to hear more suggestions or comments.
Many thanks!

This is probably one of the most misunderstood aspects of our business today. That is the proper implementation of collateral marketing. Network marketers should be using this but they’re not, and when they do use it, they don’t use it effectively.

One thing you can do is seek out others and try and form a business. I know that partners can be dangerous but if it's your first business this can help a lot.

I think the hardest part is figuring out what your niche is. Ex. I started off with affiliate marketing, and mlm. I still do both but mlm is my main money maker. There are alot of programs out there that work. Some you may have to put money into to reach success, some you don't because they have a killer landing page or you can make your own. I always look for mlm programs that have been around for a while, you have a better chance of making money because in my opinion they have less of a chance of flopping. Also, if you have some money to work you can promote clickbank or cpa network products, PPC to CPA or PPC to Clickbank products. Those can be real money makers.
