I am 99% sure my site is in the sandbox but I am examining
every possible angle for some other reason.. My last thought before I resign
myself to build a sandcastle.. is the one page on my site that links to
blogs/articles written about our product. Could google be having a problem
with this? They are all reputable sites I am pointing to, most are gadget
related, all topical, and have written articles on their own about us.. nothing paid.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

Unless i'm missing something your site is not sandboxed.

I wouldn't worry much about having pages that link back and forth, but rather work on quality IBL's.

Whats exactly is the problem that your trying to solve? Low rankings? For what key terms?

I am stuck in the 40s for my main search term
tv screen protector.

No matter how much on page seo I do I cant seem to move
up. I have double the back links of my competitor sites yet I
just cant move out of the 40's.. The site is a month and a 1/2
old so that why I think it is sandboxed.

Thanks,
Mike

I cant find your site in the first 200 pages?

You've got a good mixture of links from press releases and such but I think youre right about being sandboxed. The keywords we're talking about here are quite competitive so Google might have pushed you out for a while.

Keep link building and working on the site. There's not a lot of content on there and the presentation looks too basic. Take this lull before the storm as a chance to get the site looking and working great. At the moment i personally wouldnt link to it.

Dont worry about providing decent, relevant links to your visitors. Google does not penalise you for that. The internet works on links, without them we'd all be screwed so to penalise people for offering decent links would be counter productive.

I am on page 5 when you search for "tv screen protector"

I am working on the site right now.. having a redesign done with better copy.

The site used to have a ton more content but I got a bunch of advice
telling me that all the content was hurting conversions. So I paired it down
big time. I used to have videos, install guide page, testing lab page, etc.

Thanks,
Mike

Its probably a regional variation thats stopping me see your site in my resutls.

Have you recently purchased this domain? The domain itself is 8 years old so i dont think you've been sandboxed.

Mike, It sounds a though you received some bad advice. The kind of content that you used to have is great. Not just from a search engine point of view but from a visitor point of view as well. Videos/guides etc offer excellent link building opportunities. Get the videos back up and anything else that's relevant. Then put it on youtube, digg and all that.

How about creating some funny videos about your product? Like... "top ten household items that break TVs" (off the top of my head but you know what i mean!)

i think the fact that your site is only 45 days old is playing a major factor in your rankings (or lack thereof) it seems to be more and more of a factor i.e your site needs to be established for a long time in order to gain trust from google

But the domain was setup in 2000. Mike, what's the history behind it?

another option to improve the onsite optimisation is put your menu links in the footer in addition to the normal menu links

I bought the domain back in Feb/Mar. Not sure what it was before then. I'll have to check the
wayback machine.

I hear your advice about putting things back.. and I am still considering it. Does anyone
know where I can find some research on how webpage design/content affects conversion
rates?

Thanks,
Mike

Marcje,

You are probably right.. When we were put in the index we were at position 60. Over the past 3 weeks or so we have moved up to 48. What is frustrating is that this post, and press releases
I have written easily outrank the site the site for my keywords. I guess I have a low trust rank
with google.

I think you need to get good links. For the command link:TV Screen Protector - Protect your LCD or Plasma TV from damage with TV Armor! (http://www.tv-armor.com/) ...there are no results.

Is that probably an Asian SEO Technique? Or did I miss something here?

One thing you are doing for sure. You are spamming your keywords meta tags. I am sure there are more issues, but I assume others here might have the time to come up with other issues. :)
