Site not doing that great, but less SEO sites APPEAR to do better?

HI Everyone

I'm CERTAINLY no SEO expert as you will soon find out :o-/ but I try to do my best with the basics for my site. The site has been up for a few years and I have had PR 4 for a long time, but for some reason websites with a much lower PR / little content on their site and from what I can see VERY little SEO, list higher than me for my main search term "wildlife art".

For the life of me I can't see why, so I can't think what I have to do to get higher up.

Perhaps "wildlife art" is used to much in the page?

Here's an example - type "wildlife art" into Google UK - my site Wildlife Art Paintings, Limited Edition Giclee Prints, Conservation Art - JasonMorgan- tiger paintings, big cat paintings (http://www.onlineartdemos.co.uk) is in position 4 and this site Wildlife art by Mike Woodcock (http://www.wildlifeart1.co.uk/) is position 3 at the moment.

It's similar in google.com I'm on page 2 there.

I'd REALLY appreaciate anyones help - just to point me in the right direction.

This happens all the time in Google and its usually because of links. Links are still the biggest ranking factor for a site. Although checking yours and his site with yahoo site explorer

You can see you've got more links, but still not that many to be honest. He's got a lot more content. What are your links like? I checked a few on they were art related sites which is good but what the anchor text? Do the sites have a decent PR?

Build more links and add more content! You'll beat him...

By the way, ive just searched for wildlife art (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1T4GGIH_en-GBGB264GB264&q=wildlife+art&btnG=Search&meta=) - you're third and he's sixth?!

Yes I agree your rank is lower most likely because you have less link backs than the other website that are ranking higher on Google than your website. I don't think it is because you have not done search engine optimization properly or that your search engine marketing efforts are on the wrong track. Most likely it is because of links. The overall content on the website is also important. I am assuming that you add new content to your website often. Related content and lots of it is very important for search engine ranking of your website on Google.
