Hi, new to the forum, as well as new to designing Logos. I am almost done a logo course. I am submitting my lessons for critique. I hope that this is acceptable.
Please ignore week one, totall embarassing they are. Week 2-5 are the ones that I feel I have managed to accomplish something with. Would like to know if I have a flare for this with work of course.
Lol, guess I must be pretty brave to do this huh?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I've tried to view your design but the URL isn't working for me, maybe you need to check it again
Thanks

Actually the site is down, I have been trying for over an hour to get in there. I know it is the server as I can't even access my file manager right now. Thanks for taking a try to look though!
<edit>It might work now, I just checked it and they seem to be back up. It has been about 2 hours that they have been down</edit>

Yes it is working now and I've viewed all the pages (even week 1) :)
Great work and progress so far, you have the talent needed and you'll gain much experience by time and practice.
My advice for you is to practice as much as possible and to feel the shapes, which means that you should use your imagination to know what shapes can form when combined together.
One day, you'll own your tools as a logo designer and you will have the ability to design whatever design you imagine.
One last advice, always keep in mind that people's taste varry from one another so try not to stick to only one designing line and not to be depressed if some one hardly criticized your work because simply it will be apreciated by some body else. I believe that there is no bad design and that every design has something good in it.
Best Regards and good luck with your new career

WOW! Thank you, I mean I am actually speechless! I honestly didn't think it would be a critique like you gave me.
Yes, week one was a tad sad wasn't it? lol.
I greatly thank you, and look forward to other views as well.
I do plan on continuing to play around with this.
wow, speechless, and those who know me, well, they would know that takes a lot to accomplish this!

Agreed, you do have good imagination and abilities, however i think your creativity may be lost by the design package your using, why not try Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illistrator? They cost alot though but you can get free trial versions from the adobe website. (Or just download an illigal copy from Kazza).
Ups did i just say that. Nah Well.

Hi icb01co2
THank you for your reply.
I do have photoshop 6. A tad daunting for me right now. I do, however, plan on working through it to see how it works out for me.
I use photoshop for my digitals when putting them on a site. I find that this is the only program that does a great job when trying to get a photo ready for the web. I am not too found of psp8 or 7's photo processing abilities. Though, I know that many people do like those programs and have luck with them for digitals. I however don't. ;)
I would like to find another tutorial that would give some advanced lessons in graphics/logos/banners. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, what is the difference between Adobe Illustrator and photoshop? I have always wondered what they are.
LOL, I'm sure that my children would agree with you on the imagination aspect of your post! ;)

There's nothing wrong with Photoshop. However, you can do most of what it does at a fraction of the cost ($60?) with PaintShop Pro. I think there's a version 8, that I haven't tried. Version 7 was great.

Hi DrTandem1:
I have both psp7&8.
I have heard soo many people say that psp8 crashes all the time. I have not had any problem with that issue. And with working on the logo course I have used it a lot with many things runing at the same time. I think psp8 is better then 7, so if you get a chance you should try it out. I usually find good deals on software on ebay.

Hello,
I think photoshop is the best ever, I have been using it for years and it has the largest library of effects and add ons. Yet there is another affordable package that I highly recomend, it is Ulead PhotoImpact XL. I really like this program, it is for about $80 but it is really powerful and it didn't ever crash or cause any problems while I used it. You should try it by downloading a free trial version. I have too much to say about this program :)
I adore it.

Hi egtrix
I had Ulead, one of the older programs, it was about 2+years old, When I recieved some of the other photo programs I uninstalled it and gave it to a friend who was also interested in doing some photo adjustements. I also have MGI photo suite. I don't have that installed.
My nephew does my formating on my pc, and when I decided to do a clean install of windows xp pro when I got it, he partitioned my hard drive for me, lol. I don't have much room on the c drive, so now I keep an eye on things very closly.
My image programs, hemera, etc.. I have installed on the f drive. So I have had to sort of move things about when I install them now.
One day, I would love to get my photos organized onto cd's as they are taking up soo much room on my partition. I am leary as 2 years ago before moving to a new pc I had moved some pictures, but did this wrong, and lost all the photos. I now have pictures that are little tiny thumbs that only I know what they are. Bad series to loose as well. First sons graduation and daughters 16th bd party. So I hesitate to do anything now. :(
