Here's the first breaking news from the WebmasterWorld conference: some very reliable sources have revealed the name of Overture’s top secret new product.

Overture, which is owned by Yahoo, recently acquired a trademark for Site Match, computer software designed to track and analyze the performance of online advertising. The software will also be used to “search, retrieve, index and organize” Internet data.

Yahoo representative Tim Mayer declined to comment when questioned about Site Match at the WebmasterWorld Publishers Conference (http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=14822) earlier today.

Apparently, Yahoo had been planning on officially announcing the program at next week’s Search Engine Strategies Conference (http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=13965) but whispers have already been leaked into the public.

You can get official information on Site Match here (http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=78353533).

I don't think it was so much that Tim declineds to comment as he much as it was that he was in so much shock from the revealing of it to over 500 keyboard happy attendees in one fell swoop.

He had the look of a deer cuaght in the headlights, I was sitting in my chair trying to remember all the CPR stuff I had learned as I was afraid he was going to have coronary distress.

Sidenote: Tim = Nice Guy

Having used the Yahoo directory - $199 one off payment to guarantee that your site was listed based on keywords right at the top of the Yahoo listing, ahead of free listings ....

Well, I'm still on 1st page based on SEO, not due to being on the directory which is now on a seperate listing entirely. I would advise people to be very cautious of paying anything up front to Yahoo, they don't keep to their side of the agreement!
