I'm a medium kinda web user I use front page and I make a website for our Neighborhood Watch.
Just a basic Home page and lots of links to folders where other pages are.
But I was told to fix it to where other people cant steal the info. And copywrite it too. How do I take care of this

The short answer is you can't stop them.. Anything that can be seen on the internet can be stolen.. The best you can do is regularly check places like Google for text unique to your website and see if someone else has stolen it..
As for copyright, it is technically copyright to you the moment you create it.. If you feel it necessary to get a full government copyright a good place to start reading is here U.S. Copyright Office (http://www.copyright.gov/)
Finally, if it were me, I wouldn't worry about either of these issues.. The odds of your site being copied or stolen are remote at best.. There isn't a huge monetary potential for a thief here..
Good luck with the new site..

Joe...
First - make your website.
second - Make it good enough for people to want to steal.
Once you get this far you should be extremely proud of yourself.
You do not have a problem
you most likely will not have a problem. So spend your time and effort to create the above problem, it could be a nice problem to confront you in 12 months time.

Hi Joe,
I think this is what you were looking for.
Replace your <body> tag with the following script to disable the ability to highlight text and images:
<body onselectstart="return false">

And for the copyright/plagiarism question...
Some people regularly check the Copyscape (http://www.copyscape.com/)website to hunt down plagiarizers. You can also display a Plagiarism Prevention banner (http://www.copyscape.com/banners.php?o=f) too, which may scare away potential plagiarizers.
IMO, the Plagiarism Banner is lame, but it's up to you.

Hi Joe
As what everyone else says you can't really stop people copying your site. There is a script you can use to disable the right click on your site (handy for images), but even this isn't foolproof and if someone's that determined to steal your content, they still will.
All I can suggest is monitor your site on a regular basis using CopyScape. When they do, Google cease and desist letters or contact a solicitor.
From expereince: I used CopyScape a couple of weeks ago and found a web design company on the other side of the country was copying my text almost word for word. I contacted them directly and after the initial "we've never heard of you" spiel, they changed their content the same day. Now I make a regular thing to monitor my site.
In fact i would be more than happy to provide you with the wording that I used. PM me if you do.
