Many times I was hacked or at least tried to be hacked with some attachments or IP attacks as everybody.
As principle I dont keep very important data on my Laptops,so indeep these trials are not very much effect me.Reinstalling Windows was a pleasure for me at the beginning , I was spending my all programs too.
But when settings get more complex and difficult, these reinstallings bored me and decided to protect myself more careful.For finding the best combination I worked and searched hard. Here are the results;

1)Antivirus: is certainly required. But which one? there are lots of products on the market,as the most famous one is Norton. But is Norton is a certain solution. I tested some antivirus products by myself.Ofcourse these are not professional tests.
I discovered "Kaspersky Pro" This was the best of all.Its also more sensitive than all.I tested while there was a trojan horse with Norton and Kaspersky.Do you know Norton didnt reliased the trojan horse. The second good of Kaspersky was it is working on the backround continously ,not need to scan everyday. Also updating service is daily.

2)Firewall: is a must. This point is nearly my mania.I found out the best firewall is Zone Alarm Pro but this is not enough for me and I also loaded Norton Personal Firewall. You should think that these 2 can not work together, but they do.I must confess that also Sygate Firewall was also loaded and 3 firewalls were working properly, but 2 is also enough for me.
I must definetly tell about Agnitum is very useful especially he can hide you very well, even you dont seem in the website statistics as visitor.

3)Spyware: is a satisfactory tool for your mind ,one of the good one is "Adaware 6" This is a free program and updates are usefull. You can see which cookies there are in your PC.I also recommend Adaware.

4)Task and Cookie Manager:My dear Winpatrol, its possible to see which cookies to keep on my PC.

I have all these on my all Laptops.I realized the importance of these products because when somebody attacks me I feel like somebody is raping my private life.I dont let anyone with these security tools and thus feels me really good.

A good listing of results eko...

Over the many years i have been computing and surfing, I have always stuck to Norton AV & Personal Firewall, intergrated with System Works. I find this package very good and reliable, the only other security type of thing I use is AdAware for those dredded spyware's. I once tried a little number called Trojon Detector System - it gave a very indepth scan of my system and checked files that most AV's would not.

I had to recently reinstall w2k and after installing the firewall, I decided that the only communications I would allow, would be ones I requested. To my ashtonishment, system32.exe kept trying to contact Microsoft - so this was blocked and I also descovered that something is trying to contact my system using the SOCKS 2 1080 port, I have no idea of what or who this is, but I'm blocking it and so far no problem with my system.

I also tried Norton Systemworks 2004 but it didnt satisfied me. In Kaspersky Pro there is "active monitor" function. Thus is very efective for surfers. Im always on the net and surfing too.As everybody knows there some websites that contains some trojan horse.Till your next scanning time, Norton doesnt realise him, if he founds the trojan during scan, you have to find "removal tool" to remove him.
But in Kaspersky, he alerts just during the visit the web site which contains trojan.Im deleting with his alert and not need to search for a removal tool.

I must also talk about "Symantec online Security Test"
When you visit www.symantec.com there is online free security scan.I also used that test. The results didnt changed if I used their product or others. But as a result, he says "you must check your antivirus product" They offer Norton while Im using Norton!

Thats a foolish test and result.I offer www.itsec.de I offer you to scan on this site about SOCKS 2 1080.This can be a BUGBEAR or a proxy problem.
They are also free and checks thousands of points that can risk for a PC.These are the experiences of lots of experiments, maybe I mustnt offer without charging ;)

Stay safe..

http://www.winpatrol.com/

It's an interesting hybrid tool that combines a Startup/Active Tasks monitor and a way to sniff out Worms, Trojan horses, Cookies, Adware, Spyware and other malicious programs.

Cool!

Thanks!

Hey, I just an attatchment with an e-mail that AVG let through, but it is pretty new, this virus.

My subject line was "stolen", and the attatchment was "shower.*.pif" ( I forgot to keep track I was to focused on the .pif extention)

I haven't been in trouble with Norton 2003 for 6 months now, never an infection, caught all the attatchments (which I hardly get any, I have been keeping risky behavior to a minimum for a while), and even a couple of false positives that I submitted, but they came back "clean".

Here is the new virus going around (today lol) lately:http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101034.htm

Thanks, music man. I knew it was around, but I am far to irresponsible to bother looking.

I have bookmarked it because I wanted to.
