SEO:Incoming Links Strategy

I am Akanksha, I am working on a site or can be called a directory....The Page rank is 4 right now.
I want to know how can i increase my site's popularity and visibility in search engines....how the concepts of Incoming Links, Inbound Links, Back Linking, Link Popularity can be beneficial.....

How, i can get incoming links to my site...no reciprocal linking.................:neutral:

Hi Akanksha,

The best way is to build relationships with webmasters in similar industries to yours. Perhaps fire off an email telling them what you like about their site and asking if they'd mind perhaps linking to page x on your site which is on a similar subject.

getting listed in search engines isnot a problem, as far as u follow the basic principles:

1. Write ur META tags properly and honestly about your website.
2. Develope and post relevant content in relevant pages
3. Place a robots.txt, disallow bad spiders
4. Break out ur pages as much as possible.

Incoming links:

these are links coming from other websites to you, they add value to your page rank......you can do Social Media Optimization by participating in your relvant communities, posting about your company in directories etc.
