image names on company website

I need suggestions for, how should I name the images on my company website - Galaxy Web Links Ltd - Custom web design and development company (http://www.galaxyweblinks.com) .
eg, on home page - there are 2 images - one on top left and the other (the logo) on right .

Should I name the logo as - "galaxyweblinks-logo.jpg" or "web-development-company-logo.jpg" ?/

Also, what should I put in Title and Alt tags for these images ?

Please suggest.

The filename really doesn't matter so much. Go with natural. As for the title and alt attributes, keep it natural again. There's some discussion on this here (http://www.webproworld.com/search-engine-optimization-forum/64485-images-title-versus-alt-tags-both.html). Keep it natural, but if a keyword fits and makes sense, then use it. If the images are links (which they should be if they are your corporate logo - link back to the homepage) then the alt attribute acts as anchor text, so use your primary keyword.

If it were up to me I'd make it "generic" if you're interested in SEO - Ie use "web-development-company-logo.jpg" - that said I can't imagine it making much difference, you'd be better off promoting your website through signatures at the bottom of the website's you design than directly on the search engines. For example, it took my own company over a year to get on page 1 for our major search term, but long before then we got several bits of business through people liking a website we did and following the link. Just my humble opinion but it worked well for us.

My company website has great placement, but I have always gotten more business from people following links from client sites ...more often than not they are my clients' competitors ... turning them down feels good. :D

Whatever you do, don't include the string "banner" in any filename, since that's a string that adblockers focus on. I usually name images in line with the text that's in the image if the image is one that displays text. Easier that way. As to alt text, only include it if it's relevant. If it's a purely decorative image, then include an empty alt tag.

If it makes sense for your logo to be found in an image search, go ahead and keyword name the file. Otherwise simply name it for your company name and take the branding +

filename: galaxyweblinks-logo.jpg (as mentioned doesn't matter as much, but can if you want people to search for it in an image search).

image tags dont have title attributes - if they are links the a href tag may do but I would use the phrase that the page it points to is optimised for, in the a href tag's title attribute.

Incidentally i have always used descriptive words for images - just in case i could get some visitors via Google image search. - its not happened yet!

Best advice I guess is keep it as short as possible to lower your pages file size.

Definately keep it a descriptive name with spaces.

I have gotten clients through google and yahoo images searches.

They request to include my product shots in books and articles.

I just ask for the back links and proper credit and they are more then happy to provide it.

So I get real back links to people who have a better then 50% correlation rate.

It's not a lot but over the years it has proved worthwhile.

defiantly you can put your images name as per your requirement. but is is always a good habit to give a good name to the images. also it could not contain more the 20 character. you can put your company name in the alt and title tag.

Are you sure? (http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_img.asp) Every time you hover over an image in Firefox and get a tooltip - that's the title attribute.

You should name it according to the image because it serves as the description of your image don't put same on all of your images.. also put some alt attributes on every images. This will help in SERPs somehow..:p
