Microsoft Launches Beta of Free Web Analytics Tool :D

Microsoft has quietly opened a beta version of its soon-to-be-free Web analytics system. Code named Project Gatineau, the system ties site usage data to Live ID profiles for additional demographic information

Of course. But it will be worse to beat Google than Lotus and / or the Mac OS. I think Google will be the "Cocke" and (MS + Yahoo) the "Pepsi" for the next 5 - 10 years.

Even if Microsoft is a bit late for this market in USA, there are lots of people and companies out there which don't know a word about web analytics yet. In our own traffic reports, we find people everyday who land on our pages looking for a way to know "who is visiting their web". So, even if it is a bit late in some areas, there is still room for Microsoft in this game, I think.

I have heard that their stats would be real time
and that is something that google analytics don't offer - not yet

Some people might be in need of of Live Stats
(some of my customers at least)
and this might be a reason for people to try them out.

On a different note has anybody gotten an invitation ?

Does anyone actually use Live ID? lol It looks like a poor attempt to copy Google Analytics.

I use it and I recommend it.

How is it? why do you recommend it? How is it compared, or better than Google Analytics?

I wouldn't say it is better, but if you do not want to share your info with Google it is an excellent alternative.
