View Full Version : Use of the Term SEX within an Otherwise Innocuous Domain Name

I just registered a domain name for a client per their request. The domain name is their full business name, and it involves three words:

______ Plus Exteriors => ______PlusExteriors.com

When the terms are strung together, the Plus and Exteriors make the term pluSEXteriors. Is this an issue for some filtration programs in at businesses or schools? Anyways, if the client is fine with it, any reasons to avoid this type of domain? Thanks for your input.

I know you folks can likely figure the real domain out, but I'd rather leave out references and links to the clients domain/website. Please refrain from posting the true domain if you put the work into finding it out. Thanks.

Oh come on guys! I figured putting SEX in the title would grab a hold of plenty of interest in this post.

I guess I'm a little more worried about home-brewed Outlook filters than anything. (If "sex" appears in subject or domain, send to Trash.). As for now, we've made the registration, but are making some suggestions for alternatives.

35 views isn't bad ... and that's only so far ...

Why not use plus-exteriors.com for the search engines and park and point the other domain and use it for print ads ...

I guess the issue with that is the client prefers to keep things simple, rather than have numerous domain names to manage (well... pay for me to manage). He seems content with sticking with the full-blown domain name, rather than using abbreviations. I guess for my specific purposes, we're all set. The client's decision is the client's decision.

But from the perspective of a domain name manager, I would like to see if anyone else has encountered domains such as this, or encountered any issues that arise.

And yes, I know that we're all thinking about the laughable PenIsland.com domain name right now. I wish I had thought of that.
