1069 - All the numbers, counting, complex computations, counting errors and corrections brings the following (true) story to mind:
Shortly after we'd moved into our last house and set up a new phone number, it came to a point where "wrong numbers" were becoming a real pain. Instead of the standard, "Sorry, wrong number", I decided to take an alternative approach.
"Hello?", I said.
"Hayyyeeee, is Mary home?", the guy asked in a raspy drawn out tone. It seemed pretty obvious that he was well on his way to inebriation so I thought I'd ad lib and make the most of this seemingly golden opportunity.
"Naw, she's out walking the dog. Should be back in about 20 minutes", I said.
"Sheeez walkin the dawg? You guys got a dawg? Whut kind didja get?", he slurred.
"I got tired of listening to the ol' girl whine about it, so I took Mary down to the Humane Society and picked up a German Shepherd. She's two years old", I replied.
"Aw, I love dogs", he said.
"Yeah, she's a sweetheart, smart too! Best part is that now that she's got a dog, the ol' girl's not bugging me to go for walks anymore", I laughed.
I waited a few seconds while he recovered from a fit of "smoker's cough" caused by his respondent chuckle. "Yeah, ha-ha-ha, well at least they're gettin some excercise!", he sputtered.
"Hey, it's been a while, how about you pick up a box of beer and pop in for a drink?", I asked.
"Thassa good idea! I'll see yuz inna bit", he said.
"Don't bother knocking, just walk right in. We'll be waiting for ya." I said.
"Hokay, cool!" he said and hung of the phone.
My wife walked in midway through the conversation and seemed a little miffed when I hung up. Hands on hips, one eyebrow jutting up ominously, she launches into a diatribe.
"Why would you invite someone over without talking to my about it first? Can't you see that the house looks like a cyclone hit it? I'm running my @55 off, we've got a million things to do today and now you've invited one of your buddies over so you can sit around drinking beer all afternoon? Who the heck was that anyway?".
I was laughing so hard tears were rolling down my cheeks. The stupefied look on her face was priceless when I told her it was a wrong number.

Hi,
I live in Lincolnshire, UK and I l want to play guitar like my hero Jimmie Hendrix. He's awesome!
I've been good all year and always try my best to help others as much as I can. I've always wanted a Voodoo Stratocaster Guitar just like the one that Jimmie used.
Mum says you're very busy making presents for all the girls and boys right now but if you can find the time, please kindly ask one of your elves to work on my present.
I'd be ever so thankful for whatever you give me but all I really want is the Voodoo guitar or one just like it.
Daddy says you'd prefer a nice pint of lager to just plain old milk and cookies but Mum says no. She says you'd never drink and drive but Daddy says you wouldn't have to if one of the elves will be your DD, whatever that is. He says we need not worry because the reindeer know where they're going anyway.
Please be sure to let me know which you prefer and I'll do my best to have it waiting for you.
I promise I'll continue being good even after Christmas and that I'll be fast asleep when you arrive.
Your friend,
David.

1149 And a merry little yuletide to you to. Just think, right now up in darkest Lapland - Santa and all his little helpers are doing up the presents for the millions of waiting kids. I hope he ignores all those with plenty and gives only to the sick and needy. Now wouldn't that make a change.

1151 Last year I bought a Christmas Tree that has everyone cocking their head to the side like a dog hearing a strange noise. It's an artificial palm tree with evergreen branches. Brought it to my office and it sits next to me with a plush lobster (a soft stuffed crustacean) on top. Everyone who knows me laughs and says that it defines me perfectly.
Wait.....is that supposed to be a compliment?

http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/54354/thumbs/s-LAS-VEGAS-SNOW-large.jpg
The ongoing snowstorm has stopped flights from landing or leaving at McCarran International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
"No planes are departing for Las Vegas from anywhere in the U.S. right now," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.
Gregor said the airport doesn't have snow removal or deicing equipment, which means there's no way for snow-covered planes to leave safely.
"The forecast is not looking particularly promising for anybody who wants to fly into Las Vegas," he said.

I, do, I do!
However, got 1 1/2 days in, as my wife decided we and a friend were going to the Frankfurt German Christmas Market in Birmingham.
It was great fun. Lots of German food and beer on sale. We ate Frickadeller, fried sliced potatoes and fried mushrooms.
Then went into Wetherspoons by the Central Library for refreshments. I had a pint of Titanic Stuff it! (cranberry and chestnut flavour beer) and Santi Freeze, another Christmas ale.
The number is 1225.

First time I got peed on
First time she poked me in the eye
Baby's first fall down the stairs
Baby's first trip to hospital for stitches in her forehead
Baby's first trip to the litter box for a snack
First time Daddy child-proofed a house
First time Daddy couldn't figure out how to open a childproof cabinet lock
First time Daddy broke a childproof cabinet lock
First time Daddy replaced a childproof cabinet lock
First time Daddy retrieved a toy from the toilet
Yeah, good times...

It’s -7C (19.4F) outside: too cold to fix the ridge bonnets to the roof of the project; too cold to apply silicon sealants to a couple of joints in conduit runs from house to project; too cold for gluing of joints in any outstanding woodworking; fingers get too cold too quickly for efficient use of time on first-fix of electrics. Also, the temperature means it’s too cold to wash the van. The household accounts are up-to-date. Clients have been in bed since the pre-Christmas office parties, hence no e-mails to which to concern myself. Live test cricket on Sky has just finished for the day. LOL.. -7°C??? That's like a mild spring day around here!
We enjoyed a balmy -34°C on the drive in to work in Winterpeg this morning. Could hardly see the car in front of you for all the exhaust fog. Took an extra 1/2 hour to get to the office.

Good grief. I cannot begin to imagine what it must feel like trying to move around at that sort of temperature. You must be made of very resilient stuff.

Mine is 1276.
And as for coffee, I just save time and go straight for the caffeine tablets.
