But I thought I was me, so how can you be me when you are you not me, ( you are you), and who is that over there? Is that them..

Help you/me/them is going madJ

David more seriously. Our news yesterday told that Grodon Blair would sue Iclandic Banks because so many Englishmen may have lost their deposits in Iclandic banks.
Isn't he very fast?
Since the three banks are nationalized, today that mean suing the Icelandic State.
The State is not bankrupt, because the Icelandic state has a low dept, so it may borrow itself out of the crisis.
Did the English depositors check the bank's terms?

836 Be Happy - What's money anyway?

kgun
10-12-2008, 07:53 AM
I understand that you work in real estate, David.

Money
A claim on the central bank.
Legal means of payment.
Bank deposit.
A sheet of paper.
A metal slice.In prisons, cigarettes have functioned as money. Then it is related to trust. It has to be accepted as a means of payment, even if you don't smoke.

In periods of hyperinflation like

Zimbabwe: Inflation Rate Spirals Higher Still (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/10/world/africa/10briefs-INFLATIONRAT_BRF.html?ref=world)

"Zimbabwe (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/zimbabwe/index.html?inline=nyt-geo)’s inflation rate, already one of the highest in world history, rose from an annual rate of 11 million percent in June to 231 million percent in July, according to official statistics reported by the state media".

money stop to function as a means of payment and a barter economy is introduced until the confidence to the country's monetary system is restored. For those of you that follow Cnn's incide Africa (http://edition.cnn.com/CNNI/Programs/insideafrica/) a barter economy has already taken place there. Foreign currency like USD are accepted as a means of payment though. It is a question of time before Robert Mugabe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Mugabe) fall. The question is how bad the economy can get before it happens.

By the way this is post #801 where I am dictated by the rules to count to 837:rolleyes:

And as far as I know you have taxed short term capital gains before this crisis began.

Now there will be a meeting / seminar regarding the financial industry between Gordon Brown and Jens Stoltenberg (our prime minister from the social democratic pary. He is an economist).

There are some comments in your news, that Brown may go from a super hero to super zero once the real effects / the recession is a fact.

Money are now coming from taxpayers and people that want to buy debt.

Hopefully, they will contribute to overcome the credit crisis. There is no easy road in my view.

And I was going to offer her it, yes it does involve some body contact, but purely platonic. You simply get a fur and silk double sleeping bag. And go to remote spot in the polar circle. My granny used to wrestle polar bears and that's how it came about. And Guys, you know me! I would never make anything untrue up. You roll around in the snow, climb into the sleeping bag, undo the bag with the caviar and the Moet Chandon and before you know it the cold has gone. There has been no charge for this remedy.

Dubbya

896 - A farmer I used to work for once told me of an old family cold remedy that purportedly worked every time.

The patient was to lie down in bed under a wool comforter with their feet sticking out from under the covers, whereupon a cowboy hat would be placed on them.

The patient was given a bottle of whiskey and told to drink until the hat turned "fuzzy". This having occurred, the blankets would be pulled up under the patient's chin and they would be left to sleep until morning.

While this didn't cure the cold, the resulting hangover would usually cause the patient forget all about it.

I seem to remember hearing this cure somewhere before... (well that is to roll in the snow)

I've beein told if you'r going camping and you are cold to put your feet in cold water for a while.... this keeps you warm all night, (all by yourself, arr).

P.S. I've never tried it so cannot say if it works or not :)

David ' Prime Minister, it is widely announced that you intend using £500 Billion of tax payers money to 'buy your way out of recession, how do you intend to do this?'

GB 'Well, actually David, we have already hit a snag'.

David 'May I enquire what the snag is Prime Minister?'

915 - Shhhhh!!!! Nature study in progress! I'm searching for the illusive Norwegian Algebraeus Expoundicus.

Why I like the number fifteen:
Fifteen is a triangular number and a hexagonal number, a pentatope number, and the 4th Bell number.

Fifteen is the double factorial of 5. It is a composite number; its proper divisors being 1, 3 and 5. With only two exceptions, all prime quadruplets enclose a multiple of 15, with 15 itself being enclosed by the quadruplet (11, 13, 17, 19).

15 is also the number of supersingular primes.

By my figures it will actually take 1500 years, at our current rate, to count to 1 million.

Here's the formula (correct me if I'm wrong -- math never was my strong subject!) :

G = Goal (1 million)
C = Current count (rounded to 1,000)
E = Elapsed time to achieve current count (rounded to 1.5 years since first post)
T = Total time it will take to achieve G (in years)

(G / C) * E = T

I also estimate that if we pick up the pace and have 10 posts per day, we can shorten it to 274 years (from today).

jawn_tech
11-19-2008, 04:56 PM
1011

I actually think we can pull it off much much sooner...

We can do it in 14 years if we have 200 counts per day.

R = Remaining posts to go (999,000 rounded)
D = Daily count rate (200)
T = Total years left

(R / D) / 365 = T

TrafficProducer -- if the 'net ain't around by the time of our estimated finish, I bet we'll still continue counting together on its replacement. Maybe face-to-face on the holodeck of the starship Enterprise.

ctabuk -- maybe we should have the newsbot resurrected to joint the fun!

1028 I hope they win. Don't know what they do mind you, but if they are called Esks it must be something to do with eating Whalemeat sandwiches. Whalemeat again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know whalemeat again, some sunny day.

Did you know that Captain Ahab ate whatemeat and blubber? Frankly so would I.
