According to that, I'm from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 90s.

The bill is $14.87, but they wait till the last minute to route around their purse/wallet and pull out a $10 bill and two toonies and then look for the final 87 cents, only come up with 83 cents hoping the cashier says, "ah, don't worry about the nickle" - but that doesn't happen. They then look diligently for a $20 bill and have to collect back the $14.83, putting it back into that deep cavernous place for the next checkout line they frequent later at Walmart. This started on my Sunday afternoon at Metro's checkout line.

Ah, spring is here again. And now that daylight savings time is resumed, Dawg and I actually had an hour long evening walk in daylight. And it's warm out! Well, warm as +8 C can be. Even most of the snow if gone. Next we wait for things to start getting green. Our valley is quite bleak most times, but in spring's flourish, it takes on some gorgeous hues. We will want to take in every day of it, as there are harbingers of another drought year, which means things will dry up and die by late June. Last time we had nothing but brown for several years. That was five or six years ago. The spring was pretty much the same, back then, too.

It didn't just start with today's devices. I remember 18-years ago my son watching Barney. I had to step between him and the TV to get him to say goodbye to me. (And why is a show with so much commercial success still being produced by a publicly funded group [PBS]?!?).

7896
I went through that process trying to eliminate a few hundred "dated" subscriptions selectively and gave up. I think you can remove several on one page, but I had about 20 pages or more subscriptions. I think I gave up and chose a "remove all" then just resubscribed to a dozen or so current ones - that since have ballooned into the hundreds again! Good point for the suggestion box though.

The problem with everyone unsubscribing is that the idiots then have free run to run up their posts counts, drop links, etal., because no one notices, and it thus doesn't get reported, unless Mods./Admin. inspect each and every new post as it shows up in real time.
Additionally, given the primitive nature of the internal search, having access to ones subscription list is often the only hope for finding earlier posts that one knows exist.

(Famous words in these parts coming up...) "I read somewhere..." that the premise of the Book of World Records is 'novel, not nonsense.' One can understand how the person who spent a month in a tree (just for example) would feel against the winner of the longest domain name. Neither actually serve a purpose in the end, but one is an accomplishment of will and deed, where the other is purely a passing fancy that gets old, almost immediately. No offense to you, @edhan. ... Musical interlude ...
If you don't listen to this album several times and still not tire of it then I am a poor judge of good music. And I mean good music. Look for, "The Stages of a Long Journey," Eberhard Weber, on iTunes or at your favorite record store. After this, I expect you will want to follow up with some more E. W., the first being "Colours of Chloe." Absolutely enchanting. Don't even get into, 'best of;' there isn't one for E. W., he's just that good. This album is merely a great place to start. Buy it all. And don't forget the group, 'Colours,' who put out three incredible albums centered by Eberhard. And while you're at it check into the Kate Bush albums he worked on. Killer music. He made everyone he played with a better musician. Ask Gary Burton, if you don't believe me. Ask Lyle Mays, who would also contribute on a couple of Joni Mitchell's hit albums in the mid-seventies, the names of which escape me, at present; but, if you Google it...
Eberhard had a stroke some time back and hasn't re-emerged musically since. He did give an interview in 2010 in which he said he was reviewing tapes of his years on the road and might release a compilation of his own sessions from these recordings. Nothing is apparent on the horizon. We're all of us, fans of E. W. awaiting what transpires.

You need a 3000 calorie deficit to lose 1lb. So you need to both reduce intake and increase caloric burn through exercise. It is possible to lose 1lb. a week, but does take quite a bit of effort. Almost every fitness expert will tell you, the slower the better anyway. Your body accepts slow changes much more readily then fast drops. Most people fail because they basically try to starve themselves or change eating habits drastically. Your body works against this.

Citing, "The Old Man and the Sea" again, the story is definitely grounded in fact and cultural tradition, E. H. having spent time with the people suggested in the story. But we all realize it is a work of fiction, because the author himself tells us so.
When a teller believes a story, knowing it to be fiction, can we trust the teller's judgement? Or, like the listener, are they are so drawn into the story that the reality spelled out is totally credible? Allegory can work this way. We could very easily believe every fable by Aesop, but did it really happen? The maxims are true under any extent of scrutiny.
Looking at The Bible as 'truth' is fundamental to faith in the Christian world, but is it not actually all a work of fiction and allegory?
