I am considering the humorous possibilities of eating threatened species. I am wondering how many breeds of cow were on this planet when man first started eating them. How many breeds of chicken?
Then I recall the Indigenous New Zealanders ate the last Dodo. Now I am considering a connection between eating an endangered species in a capitalist society?
3538
I think it was Uncle Dog that once said "I'm a cow." But he never hinted whether his family were beef or milk.

Steps required for getting milk :
Acquire both a heifer and a bull
Get bull to impregnate heifer
Wait approx. 60 days for heifer to begin lactating
Begin milking
Continue milking for approx. 305 days
Go to step 2

I don't think it's any reason to stop coming in here. I don't think postcount means a lot anyway, other than perhaps as an indication of participation to new members reading our posts. I don't care that much about it, and I really don't think it should mean much. I was just surprised to see my PC cut by more than half.
Of course, the flip side of that is that it means more than half my posts have been in the Breakroom and in the Intro. forum. That was by design, though. When I joined here, I was very much a newbie, and I wasn't about to post advice or opinions on something I wasn't sure of. I was in a watch and learn mode, and did more of my posting in here, in between reading out there.
I do think it's unfortunate, though, because there are some serious threads here in the Breakroom, too.

The Break Room may be rife with interesting discussions, but it is what it is, a place to air out and get off the production floor. It's not where the real work is done.
Post count means nothing IF it includes all the one liner and OT posts AND posts in the non-forum areas. Now it is less diluted, and reveals a closer measure of real involvement in the production side, rather than the airing out side.

Depends on ones definition of "real work."
E.g., which is of greater import; gaining a SERP listing on page 1 (short term gain) or the survival of the human species (long term gain)?

W = F * d (scalar)
Work when it has direction has purpose and a targeted outcome. Work without direction is like holding back the wind. In the production side, we tend to put more thought and effort into our posts with the genuine aim of lighting someone's path. Sometimes the work leads to nothing after expending tonnes of energy (scalar) but other times a little effort is rewarded with a positive outcome (vector).

I think we can stipulate to the fact that WPW's "work" is discussion of SEO/SEM/Design/Build issues, versus many of the topics that exist in the Breakroom. In reality, such change is going to have no effect of the type allegedly being sought.
No one is going to take the time to try to determine whether or not their Post Count will/will not be incremented before they speak.
Furthermore, "spammers" don't give a rat's ass about Post Count!
Either a) someone's been smoking the junk, or b) we've been handed a line of you know what. :(
Seeing the number of "I agree", "Great post" and "Me, too!" posts coming in Introductions and Breakroom, from folks that have just joined, and can't wait to get their signatures up, and be able to post a link...
I can understand it. ;)

One sees much more of such outside if the cited forums!
I must return to the question of whether or not it reasonable to expect that such people will "take the time to try to determine whether or not their Post Count will/will not be incremented before they speak."
I submit that the answer is clearly "no."
The only certain way to achieve the stated goal is to :
substantially increase the required minimum no. of posts,
reduce ones post count when a post is purged for being tripe, and
institute an additional requirement in the form of a minimum waiting period.

STELLAR EVOLUTION AND NUCLEOGENESIS (1957)
A 1957 scientific paper on astrophysics by the late Alistair G.W. Cameron has the unusual quality of being both historically significant and very hard to obtain. A scanned copy of the paper has recently been posted online. Known to specialists as CRL-41 (for Chalk River Laboratory paper number 41), the proper title is "Stellar Evolution, Nuclear Astrophysics and Nucleogenesis" (http://www.fas.org/sgp/eprint/CRL-41.pdf) (large pdf; 197 pgs., 7.96 MB).
The paper is a milestone in the field of nuclear astrophysics, explained Daid Kahl, a Ph.D. student at the University of Tokyo. "This work independently arrived at the theory of stellar nucleosynthesis in the same year as a much more widely cited paper by Burbidge, Burbidge, Fowler, and Hoyle."
While it is still cited with some frequency (including a 2007 reference in Science magazine), hardly anybody seems to have a copy. Only around 30 libraries around the world are known to possess the document, Mr. Kahl said, based on a WorldCat search.
"Many people know about the publication, but people also cite it without ever having seen or read it," he said. "There was a large conference two years ago at CalTech commemorating 50 years since these works were published. Even at this conference, older professors were asking if anyone had a copy of CRL-41."
Now, with the expiration of the copyright on the document 50 years after publication, it has become possible to scan and post the document for anyone who may be interested. Thanks to Mr. Kahl for sharing his copy.

MILITARY CENSORSHIP OF PHOTOGRAPHS IN WORLD WAR I
During the course of World War I, tens of thousands of photographs were withheld from publication by the U.S. military. These included images that might have revealed troop movements or military capabilities, pictures that were liable to be used in enemy propaganda, or those that could adversely affect military or public morale.
The development of military controls on publication of photographs during WWI was described in a 1926 U.S. Army report (http://www.fas.org/sgp/eprint/photos.pdf) (large pdf) that is illustrated with dozens of images that had been withheld, with a description of the reasons their publication was not permitted.
See "The Military Censorship of Pictures: Photographs that came under the ban during the World War - and why" (http://www.fas.org/sgp/eprint/photos.pdf) by Lt. Col. Kendall Banning, U.S. Army Signal Reserve Corps, 1926 (courtesy of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (http://cgsc.leavenworth.army.mil/carl/)).
