Without "Googling" the correct answer, i just cant resist suggesting the other name to be Brat. How kiddish is that. OK so deduct my green points from 2189

mm..somewhere back a few posts i stuffed the dates..oops

deepsand

While "Brat" is neither of the 2 names sought, our panel of judges notes that :

1) All 4 letters given do indeed appear in said names;
2) 3 of the letters are in the correct relative position of one name; and,
3) 2 of the letters are in the correct relative position of the other.

Therefore, your individual item scores are 100%, 60% and 50%, respectively, for a composite score of 30% (1.00 x 0.60 x 0.30.)

Accordingly, you are awarded 657 green points (30% of 2190.)

2191 - Roger Moore played him, his son's were Ben & Beau.

Captain Nick Adams btw was in Boots and Saddles - now, there was a western.

Which cowboy released the song 'Deck of Cards'?

deepsand
06-24-2009, 05:07 PM
"Brent" was the 3rd brother.

Roger Moore played "Beau," the [b]cousin[/i] of Bart, Bret & Brent.

"The Deck of Cards" - original recording or cover?

ctabuk
06-25-2009, 02:35 AM
Only One Cowboy did it 2193 & I believe it was before the Wink Martindale version

deepsand
06-25-2009, 01:05 PM
Wink Martindale's cover of the '50s was the most popular recording.

Tex Ritter had the 1st or 2nd cover, but I'd not call him a true cowboy.

Without looking it up, don't know if the original recording was by a cowboy.

Today marks the 133rd anniversary of Custer's Last Stand.

I don't know...both appeal to me. I haven't been to Indonesia in many (MANY!) years, but I loved it. Brazil is nice, too, but I would want to be away from the large cities. Rio is a fantastic place to visit, but I don't think I'd be comfortable living there. And although I speak Spanish, I don't speak Portuguese. Not a big difference, but enough to be a lot like work, to learn. ;)

I'd probably opt for Indonesia, given the opportunity. A nice outlying island, on the Pacific side sounds about right. :)

Just because you're on a diet doesn't mean you can't read the menu. :D

I've always had a knack for languages, so I'm not really worried about that aspect.
Unusual for adults using traditional gramattical methods; fastest way for adults is total immersion, such as used at the Army School of Languages at Monterey (technically DLIFLC (The Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center)).

24/7, the only language allowed to be spoken, written or read is that being learned; emulates the way a child learns to speak their native language.

Although I've lost virtually all use of it, owing to lack of use, that's how I learned Russian. Confusing at first, as you've no idea what the instructor is saying; but, with the instructor repeatedly using similar phrases while referring to different physical objects present, one soon catches on.

2297 Yet another PRIME

Doc
08-05-2009, 08:58 PM
2298

Problem is, when I look at the menu, I start to drool like Homer Simpson at a Chili Cook-Off.

I agree, immersion is the easiest method, but if I moved there, it'd be just about that. ;)

deepsand
08-05-2009, 09:14 PM
2300

That's a good indicator that all of your vitals are satisfactory. :D

As for immersion, it depends on whether or not you isolate yourself from the language(s) that you know. It's not uncommon for people to move to another country, and learn little of the native tongue(s), as they situate themselves so that they've no need for learning such.

DS, I've lived in eleven different countries over the years, and have always made it a point to immerse myself in the local culture.
