How do Search Engines view micro-sites?
Given that they are only one page how do they compare with multi-page sites as far as the spiders concerned?
Are micro-sites still relevant and if so are there any useful tips for setting them up? Thanks

I would not get into them. Creating a network of minisites will surely get you in hot water.

Their are exceptions to any rule, but sounds like your a newbie so I would not get into them.

I have to disagree.

If you plan your design as well as your content, you can design a 1 page microsite that can pull in ungodly amounts of orders.

If you are going to use a microsite to sell a specific product, why worry about seo? Run you ad through Yahoo Search Marketing or Google Adwords.

My latest site is based on the idea of former microsites. It's a whole 5 pages. The morning it launched, I ran ppc ads on Yahoo, Adwords, and Adcenter and pulled in over 200 orders.. We are a small seo firm. I WILL not do that again.. :P)

It depends on what you do with them.

If you intend to cross-link the pages to inflate the value of "linking" for SEO, you need to erase fingerprints, such as whois info, server/hosing/IP addresses, no affiliate tracking numbers in common, etc.

However, if each site is a seperate entity, then there's no limit to the number of sites you can own and as seomagnate pointed out, a variety of ways to market each.

We use them with a mix of content from the main site and unique content for the microsites. They seem to work well as they are very targeted.
