I'm having a problem with WinXP Pro. I installed all the security updates from windowsupdate.microsoft.com and installed only the necessary programs but now I can't right click and view source on any web page in IE6. Also, when I click view, then source, it just clicks off and won't show the source. I tried removing and reinstalling IE with the same result. This is a fresh install. Can anyone suggest anything that might be causing the problems?

Thanks.

I have a similar problem: mine does not open links in new window ... But this appeared after one of the patches was installed.

Unfortunately, I have no time to search for answer so I`ll also wait that someone posts the solution :-)

I can't right click and view source. Some websites have code, JavScript, to stop Right Click. This is to stop copyright issues.

Try it on different sites..

I've tried defragging, I've tried many sites all with the same result. Not only can I not right click and view source, Clicking View, Source doesn't even work. Any other suggestions. The Microsoft KnowledgeBase doesn't seem to have anything on it.

Defrag probably helped those who ran disc cleanup first. The problem here is (based on my solution to the same problem) that your temp files folder is too big.

Run disc cleanup and get rid of all of those temp files and temp internet fiels and I expect you'll be back in business...

Thanks for the advice. However, this was happening right from the start of the installation. There weren't any websites that I visited. I installed my programs then went to windows update. I tried it there and couldn't get it to work, went to MSN.com and still.

How do I reduce the size of my temp folder? If you're talking about the temporary internet files in IE, I reduced it to 50MB. I'm open for any other suggestions.
