Hi there.

We are a small start up webdesign firm. We had most customers from scientific institutions, so there comes the name Scisoft, but we need other customers as well.

I will greatly appreciate constructive criticism.

Your logo needs to be credibility-based to be effective. Credible logos influence your company messages. This means sales if that is your company goal. Works the same way as a credible person.

Some kind of joke? I do not believe that a page with nothin except two red words is helpfull in understanding the credibility concept.

Scisoft's credulity strain is shared by this forumite as well. But irony is wonderful wherever it's found.

The squareness of the large central S disturbs me. The planet is round with longitudinal lines that give a softness to the "soft," but the S's right-angularity so distracts from that softness.

Just a thought.

The font is "harsh," but not sure that I don't like it. Maybe try some variations with the "S." A large "rounded" "S" going through the globe?

Also, might want to incorporate "web design" into the logo. By itself, I would think that the logo represents a software design company for science/research purposes.

Hi Scisoft,
Thanks for your post. I like your choice of colors. To be honest, I think your logo is going to need some work. There is a tendency for startups to reach for the globe. Whether you were going for "I am on the web, therefore a globe is appropriate" or "we are a global company" I highly recommend you reconsider this visual. I realize webdesign is an abstract concept, but you really need to come up with a unique visual that compliments your logo if you want to stand out and look credible.

Take Care,

The block text counteracts with the word soft. Also, the stark contrast of black and blue doesn't necesarily convey good design either. If you are going to be a web design company, then your logo should be a strong design in of itself. It's the first thing people see, and what I see looks outdated. You may add a tagline to explain your services as well.. Good Luck!
