View Full Version : Transferring Existing website/domain to new server

Hello,

I have several active websites on one hosting server at present.

There are ongoing uptime issues with the hosting company so I'm looking to relocate several (maybe all) the sites to another hosting company.

The domain names will not change and all existing directories/files will just transfer across, so the page names and extensions will remain the same.

I'd appreciate advice from the more SEO enlightened of you all if there are any other issues I need to be aware of when setting up the transfer(s) to avoid any loss of ranking, etc.

This is a great forum, my first post - so I'm expecting great things out of this question!!(Grin)

Regards,
Ron S

Moving hosters will not effect rankings.

I have moved my sites a few times and never really had any problems that effect rankings. If you leave both "open" until the net finds your new DNS, you will be fine.

For other, do not get so pi$$ed off with your hosting company that you "fire" them until you have a new host and that DNS has propagated the internet.

My two cents.

If you move your current host to another country, maybe it will affect your ranking in some local search engines, for google, yahoo, msn, everything will be ok.
