I have this blog of mine and it's kind a personal, it's non profit. i've just started to get active with the www and i 'd like to know why web users use blogs. Do post what motivated you to put your hands on blogging.
I'll start.
it's where i can express myself!

I've experimented with a couple of blogs just to see what I could do with it, and to help advance some ideas for what some friends were doing (one was on an aid trip to Louisiana in the wake of Katrina and wanted to publicize some of what she experienced; another was a political cause another friend favored.)
But I don't have time to maintain them, and I think an out of date blog is pretty useless.

Bebsie,
I use my search blog principally for news and comments about the news.

I'm with you bebsie on the personal blog side of things; I started using blogger a few years ago so I could just express myself too: a rant & a rave here and there, sharing a few laughs with whoever might listen etc. Funnily enough I also met my girlfriend via the blog, and made quite a lot of new friends too, so that was a LOT of bonuses ;)
I still maintain that personal blog and started another wordpress blog on green lifestyle (http://www.everythingsgonegreen.co.uk) information. Monetizing the blog is another plus but isn't the main goal, however discussion & promotion of green ideas is very satisfying.

I started Doodleblog (http://www.doodleblog.co.uk) as a virtual ice-breaker for potential clients, oh, and I had (have) a very large collection of doodles!
I was posting every day for 14 months but then the software/database couldn't cope and I'm currently re-configuring the site. I really miss the daily post and can't wait to get the blog moving again. While I wouldn't completely agree with writergrrrl48 when she says an out of date blog is useless, an abandoned blog is pretty sad.
