I want to start by saying most of what I am about to request help with I disagree with incredibly. So I'm not looking for opions in the matter, rather opinions on this particular question. There is a big unfortunate situation, and regardless of my advise the company I consult for wants this answer and this answer alone. ::sigh:: sometimes I hate my position.
This is a client's site www.nestmom.com. When looking at widexl.com, we are getting issues with "relevancy." My vote was on taking a lot of the un needed code and transferring to a more css shimmy, and I touched on code to content ratio. But I am in need or more insight. Can anyone tell me why the title is not showing 100% relevancy? Please help. I hear they sacrifice SEO Specialists around here. Thanks in advance.

They are using in the title tag keywords which are not found in the page content.
The same they do with the description and keywords tags.
Can happen that the site can be punished by the 3 major SE, due to title and meta tags spamming.
But as I see in your signature, you are an SEO, so I am sure you understand what I mean.

Yeah. That's what wideXL says. But that is not the truth. These words are indeed all in the content. That's where I'm getting stumped. This site is in no way optimized. But Here, I have to adhere to "policy." I am thinking that the code is such a mess that the analyzer isn't seeing these words, but I was hoping someone has a better answer than that, as this place expects miracles where miracles are not possible.

The analyzer does not only check the page content, rather the description and keyword tags too.
The analyzer does an excellent work, except of those weird messages about poison words.
Try to also fix the description and keywords tags, and you will see the relevancy will become 100% overall.

I prepared a demo for you here for checking what I mean:

Please be so kind and let me know when you don't need it anymore, so I can delete it from our server.

Im a little confused. I don't see any differences. And I can see all the words from the meta on the page. I think I'm going crazy. Mmmmm...this is most likely.

Test their page and then the demo I fixed with widexl.com analyzer.
And by the way, I love your web site. Look very beautiful and professional. :)

widexl says your robots won't allow me..lol. You really like my site? It's brand new. Tested a new designer that's working for me and I like it. But a little too tabley so now we are going over optimizing it. And that looks like it's gonna be a very long process. But thank you again.

OMG Web, I can not apologize to you enough. The way this company views the analyzer is a little weird. The analyzer was broke. I see everything correctly now. I am so sorry. I was chasing my tail for no reason at all. Thank you for bonking me in the head with an intelectual 2x4 though.

Hi jgarner,
Just thought I would add my bit.
Drop your content type metatag below keywords and description.
Have a good look at your title and keywords, a quick re-arrange or sort out may help
Descripton, its what you do but how do people look for you? A question that needs to be answered in your content!
Also go CSS, linked, it will reduce the code in the site. It probably may not affect much but it certainly helps.
Other than that be patient, if you were up there sit tight for at least a month

If that is right, why does Aaron at www.seobook.com have his content type meta tag above the title and the description/keywords meta tags and ranks 1st in Google?

Hi Webnauts,
Basically, Because he can.
His market audience is people interested in a very defined subject.
If you have a multiple sales site with lots of stuff you have to work a hell of a lot harder.
As a specialised site he has a targeted audience, he then is only competing against direct competition.
All his internal links and articles are related etc.
I also know that you know what is going on. Relevance! Wow it works.
For more diverse areas of search you need to point in the direction. Keywords works because if done properly.
Keyword Density is SEO, first description is Search Engine Optimization. Web design looks for SEO others look for Search Engine Optimization.
At the end of the day I may be wrong, am I to logical?

That's a good tip. Unfortunately I do not get to optimize this site. This is not for SEO Factor. I work for a website "marketing" (notice the quotes) company in which they provide a consulting service. My position is to provide standards for which a customer care-type department can advise further on SEO practices. This is a sad sad thing, but it pays the bills that SEO Factor ( recent personal endeavor) can not at the moment. :::SIGH::: One day....one day.

And to justify your point, you are more than correct. And I've seen cleaning a site with external CSS do wonders. But to clarify the meta for Web, it should be title, description, keywords, the rest. In that order. Title being so important, description a very close second, and keywords, well....there are still reasons to have them. Many of which are and will continue to be debated.

The so-called "poison" words there refer to nothing but "stop" words used by SE's as a flag to pay special attention for spamming potential. If relevant, there is no problem. These "stop word lists" are proposed by many and never really had influence beyond relevancy in application that I have seen. I would imgine that that perspective is somewhat outdated.
Here's a good rundown on that history:
http://www.seobook.com/archives/001538.shtml
I would ignore the warnings about the "author" and "robots" metatags. Just make sure you have a good robots.txt file:

I also blogged on Poison words about 3 weeks ago. Where I work they use that a lot. So I used this as a way to "set the story straight."

1. OK first off it doesn't matter if charset is first or title is first. Doesn't matter.
2. You wont be penalized by the search engines for having different keywords in your title tag than in your content, you just will have less of a chance to rank. Penalized/Demoted are strong words and rarely happen.
3. What is the issue really here? I tried "Bravado Nursing Bras (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Bravado+Nursing+Bras&btnG=Google+Search)" in Google and the website ranks 3rd.
4. I have to agree with Ken here, to many stop words in the title tags. Shorten them up with your strongest words first to last. Of course they wont hurt anything really but they will dilute the power of your stronger keywords in the title tags.
