I know this is not new news, but is it just me or are you sick of press releases by SEO companies? I find them every single day in my inbox because I have Google and Yahoo News alerts set up with keywords like "search engine marketing", "SEO" and "search engine marketing" to stay on top of news.

The find their way into email alerts and SERPs because when SEO companies sign a new client they submit a press release to PR Web about "winning" the client or some other stupid title release like, "Marketing Budget Shifts Towards Search Engine Optimization for Company XYZ".

Here are is one from today as an example:

The even do them when the SEO company creates a website for themselves:

This is doing nothing but adding more clutter to the web that is already getting worse because of AdSense with MFA website filling millions of SERPs everyday. I mean I understand that they want a free IBL link to the website, but abusing what press releases are for is not agreeable to me.

Just wondering who else is sick of worthless press releases.

I agree with you that it clutters up the web with all kinds of worthless news and I for one certainly don't want to read all of that.

The problem is it so easy these days to syndicate your content. RSS feeds are read by just about all of the major sources. End result is that all the "fresh" content is pushed out as news and that's what we get in our inboxes or RSS readers.
