Hi everyone,
I've an interesting problem on 4 of our sites in that when searching on Google.co.uk with the radio button for results from 'the web' checked, we maintain our usual positions; however when checking the 'pages from the uk' many of our specific keyphrases have dissapeared or dropped dramatically.
Using the site: operator to check what Google has cached on 'the web' everything appears fine but on 'pages from the uk' the home page appears to be missing from the list of pages - presumably why for the very generic keyphrases these sites are no longer showing in the SERPs.
I first thought it might be Google assuming the domains aren't relevant to the UK, although they are hosted on a UK based server etc so have ruled that out (and also, the presence of the sub-tier pages suggest this isn't the issue).
Could it be that these sites have been hit with a penalty?
I don't think we have engaged in any 'black hat' techniques as such, although we have paid for submissions to directories such as BOTW etc.
Domains in question are:
www. allfancydress.com
www. allearplugs.com
www. bigscreencells.com
www. eyesbright.com
We do have other sites that don't appear to be affected in the same way.
Could anyone shed light on this?
Many thanks,
Brad
